Brighteyes tweet: "The Egg Hunt will be fun and will be hosted in some top ROBLOX games! Get excited!"
Dear Roblox admins, developers, and moderators:
What a mockery to all our anticipations and expectations to an event that only occurs once a year, an event that attracts hundreds of thousands of players, and a holiday event that is fundamental to the core of Roblox. This change, so ill-conceived and baseless in its founding, has relegated an event that was once elevated in the status of veneration. It no longer deserves to be called a hunt, nor does it deserve to be an official Roblox event.
It is true that Roblox has often utilized top Roblox games in previous events, but…
The event of having the players earn eggs rather than find them in top Roblox games, not only undermines the definition of “hunt,” but is a double edged sword in hurting not only those who play the game for the hunt, but also those who are playing for the original intention of the game, of which the integrity has now been severely compromised by being the host of an egg “hunt.”
The idea of scattering eggs in different places that have no unifying theme or relevance to each other further undermines this tradition in a detrimental way: the purpose of any holiday event is to have a universal theme, a keystone element, which this year’s egg hunt will be lacking.
The notion that we will sincerely have fun and be excited in this event is as ridiculous and unfounded as us ever coming to terms to enjoy the event.
Change is not evil, but outright deviation from what is expected and what has always been a warm traditional of Roblox, without any form of consolidation or compromise, not only implies, to us players, a sense of subjugation, but also that of neglect and abandonment. Roblox has a history of putting forth updates and changes that receive a myriad of criticisms, criticisms which have either gone unnoticed or unconsidered. These updates include or have included: price floors, outlines, liquid games, changing the graphic interface, but not the sophistication of such an interface, changing of Roblox studio, and the moderation system (which I have been a victim to, due to severe misinterpretations of my actions). This event is no exception. Although, it is true that Roblox has instigated decent and well-thought-out updates, these have received their fair share of excitement and praise from the community.
This malicious disfiguration will present a caricature of a respected annual event that suggests to the community, even if not necessarily true, that those responsible for the egg hunt are too lazy to build the game, that developers are always given special treatment and not the players, and that the administration of Roblox are neglectful to our wishes and have thus abandoned the common player, in favor of the developer.
Do not be mistaken, Roblox, once a tradition is planted, and you let it take root and flourish for several years, it is difficult to tear out the roots, without hurting the fruitful efforts of having established such a tradition, and without hurting those who make the event fruitful, or the players.
