I'll even include the schools I got into for the heck of it
Reach schools:
1. Tulane University (Lower acceptance rate than Texas, also higher ranked)
2. University of Texas at Austin (toughest in-state public school to get into w/o a doubt)
Schools with a greater chance of getting in than not/hopefuls:
3. Texas A&M University
4. University of Colorado Boulder
5. University of Oregon
Safety schools:
6. University of Arizona
7. Texas Tech University (only ranking above ISU b/c lower acceptance rate. ISU is a better school)
8. Iowa State University |

I've personally decided that should I get into Texas A&M and not get into Texas, I'm going to attend Texas A&M.
If I don't get into Texas A&M or Texas, I'll make my decision between Iowa State and Texas Tech after Spring Break when I visit Ames, IA. I project that ISU will literally give enough in financial aid/scholarships that it will be roughly comparable with TTU.
My mom has accepted the decision made in the first scenario, while my dad has not. My dad has accepted the decision made in the second scenario, while my mom has not. |

Hallelujah I received all my recommendation letters for UT and I gotta get one of my teachers to upload a letter for A&M on my account since they can't do it themselves |
|

PSAT scores come out to counselors tomorrow. hopefully i can get my score than instead of waiting until next monday. hoping for national merit, last year my score would've been good enough. felt good about this test too
|
|
|
Good luck Mario. I was VERY far from qualifying for National Merit lol. |

Turns out this scholarship thing is gonna be a bit more work than I suspected
I just don't want the letters of rec my teachers wrote to go to waste though |

"Turns out this scholarship thing is gonna be a bit more work than I suspected"
Oh yeah they're all a lot of work. College apps have gotten me so tired/lazy that I don't even want to do them lmao |

who here has decided their school & got accepted already |

"who here has decided their school & got accepted already"
Waiting on Texas and Texas A&M
Should Texas admit me: Texas
Should Texas not admit me, Texas A&M admit me: Texas A&M
If neither admit me: Will decide in late March, between Iowa State and Texas Tech (both of which have accepted me so far) |

I'm going to be applying to many different schools but my top 6 are;
Clemson, u of SC, u of NC, NC State, ECU, Duke |
|
|
UNC, NC State, and especially Duke are really good schools
Clemson is decent but expensive |

god damn I can't wait another day and I have to wait 3 freaking months
These decisions are literally going to affirm whether all my work the last 4 years was "worth it" or not, and whether I actually thought I looked as good as I thought I did
solid grades, solid SAT, decent? extracurriculars, and decent essays
...but a computer science major. PLEASE ACCEPT ME DAVIS/SAN DIEGO |

just want to remind everyone that whatever college you go to doesn't mean nearly as much as you think it does

It really doesn't @ Cheesey, but to me, and millions of other students, it's confirmation of whether your hard work at this stage and your life has paid off or not |

"at this stage of* your life has paid off or not"
I'm bad at english |
|
|
no it's not
only you can assess whether the work you put in was valuable or not, whether you get accepted into x or y college is completely irrelevant to that

It still matters to millions though
All students have heard those words one way or another hundreds of times throughout their high school career, it doesn't change anything in the majority of students' beliefs |
|
|
i have not heard anyone say that to me or anyone i know literally ever in my high school life
the fact of the matter is that education is (or at least SHOULD be) about gaining knowledge and learning how to use it in the real world, whether you get into an ivy league or go to the local community college doesn't change that fact
it is not the acceptance into the college that makes you happy it is your perception of that event that you place value in, when in reality no external events can make you happy or sad, only your perception of those events can affect you

Dude, I hear you loud and clear, I'm right there with you lol
I choose to let acceptances affect me solely for fun, if I don't get into the college of my dreams it's not going to be some soul-crushing development, I make the most of every opportunity |
|
|
you are still placing value in the opinion of some random admissions officer who is judging your entire life solely on 3 years of grades and a test score
it's just not meaningful in any way and really shouldn't be
