Support. People saying your eyes can only see 60Hz have obviously never seen a higher framerate, it's immediately noticeable. Also, refresh rate and frame rate are not the same thing.

That's sounds like a wonderful idea!

There is no benefit to it running at 144 FPS though It's just wasted FPS

You really don't need a very powerful computer to get 144 fps

"There is no benefit to it running at 144 FPS though" You can say that about any framerate. ROBLOX used to be at 30fps, what's the point of 60fps? What's the point of improving your game?

"Also, refresh rate and frame rate are not the same thing." i know, but to actually see a higher fps you need a higher refresh rate monitor "There is no benefit to it running at 144 FPS though" there is if you have a 144hz monitor i dont, but a lot of people do

"You can say that about any framerate. ROBLOX used to be at 30fps, what's the point of 60fps? What's the point of improving your game?" because 60 is all we need

"because 60 is all we need" but why not have a little extra for those who can afford it?

#191731436Wednesday, June 22, 2016 1:51 AM GMT

"i know, but to actually see a higher fps you need a higher refresh rate monitor" Not entirely. Since the frames are being rendered the game will seem smoother even if your monitor can't refresh each frame. They're not locked together, they're two independent things.

#191731537Wednesday, June 22, 2016 1:53 AM GMT

"because 60 is all we need" We don't NEED anything. But we want the game to be better. If all you put in a game is things players NEED you'd have a pretty boring barebones game.
CatBoy1235

"but why not have a little extra for those who can afford it?" because it doesn't make ROBLOX any better

but wouldnt you begin to see screen tearing at an fps higher than your refresh rate, unless roblox has vsync idk. also, 60hz means it refreshes 60 times in one second, right? so if theres 60 frames per second wouldnt you only see those 60 frames
wonderful72pike
#191732472Wednesday, June 22, 2016 2:04 AM GMT

You would only see 60 refreshes, but because there are more frames being rendered everything would look smoother since there's more there. Also, an FPS drop at 60fps would go below your refresh rate and you'd notice. Above there, you'd start to see drops having a lower effect.

Bump @Anyone who says you can't see more than 60 FPS, You can see more than 60 FPS if you monitor supports it.

I support this.. And anybody who says a human can see only 60 FPS is ignorant, we can actually see up to a 1000.

#192403836Thursday, June 30, 2016 4:54 AM GMT

There should be an option to set the FPS cap though: Like 30FPS, 60FPS, 120 FPS, 144FPS and so on Having an Fps higher than the refresh rate may cause screen tearing so it's not a good idea to make it mandatory but to make it optional.

honestly i don't see a problem but you act like 200 dollars isn't a lot of money. to people who only buy bc on birthday money and maybe one 15 dollar card every two months, allowing me to buy two month bc. 200 dollars is a whole bunch of money to people who don't have a steady income of money.

Yeah but if they add that feature they want to make sure that the graphics quality is set to 1 and on manual when new players just start to play. Because if it's set to max and this specific player has a crappy graphics card, they will just crash... ~Pengdoo, an average game developer.

@Cat I guess we are not advanced enough to have 1000Hz monitors. http://www.hltv.org/blog/11589-the-human-eye-cant-see-over-60fps https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frame_rate http://www.avsforum.com/forum/40-oled-technology-flat-panels-general/1484182-why-we-need-1000fps-1000hz-century-valve-software-michael-abrash-comments.html While we can percieve 1000 frames, it is quite hard to notice, but if we did have those kinds of monitors, I bet it would feel really smooth, as perfect as motion in real life.

The amount of time it takes light to reach the eye and the brain to understand what it is seeing is 5 milliseconds. In a digital understanding, the eye sees things at about 60-62 fps. It would be power consuming and useless to upgrade the FPS higher unless the game utilizes things such as slow motion, very fast motions ect.. Higher FPS also gets rid of motion blur which can cause headaches, and nausea. This is also why most technology companies, Apple for example, will not be upgrading their display resolution from the Retina display which runs at 60fps because the human eye cannot see higher than the Retina resolution and 60fps. It would be pointless and money/power consuming.
MrEWhite
#192430938Thursday, June 30, 2016 4:47 PM GMT

"Getting rid of motion blur causes motion sickness" If you are getting motion blur in ROBLOX, your monitor is bad. Simple as that. Google Blur Busters for more on that. And fast travels much faster than that, which are why 1ms response time monitors make such a big difference over 5ms response time monitors.
MrEWhite
#192431001Thursday, June 30, 2016 4:48 PM GMT

And again, if you have seen a 120/144 Hz monitor in real time, you'll notice a big difference.

"The amount of time it takes light to reach the eye and the brain to understand what it is seeing is 5 milliseconds. In a digital understanding, the eye sees things at about 60-62 fps." 60 seconds = 5 milliseconds ? tell me how that makes sense
