A NEW ERA A few weeks following the 2016 NFL Draft, Bears coach John Fox and owner Virginia Halas McCaskey got in a major argument -in which the details were not released- that resulted in John Fox being fired. A day later, a personal friend of Virginia, and defensive coordinator of the University of Chicago. Everest had hardly been hired before making 2 blockbuster moves: ROLB Willie Young was traded to the Jets for their 2018 first and sixth round picks, while MLB Jerrel Freeman was traded to the Cardinals for their 2018 first round pick and 2017 sixth round pick. Coach Everest announced that rookie Leonard Floyd would be making the start in the place of Willie Young, with fellow rookie Nick Kwiatkoski making the start at MLB. After QBS Connor Shaw, Brian Hoyer and Jay Cutler all suffered major injuries in the preseason, Everest announced that yet another rookie would be taking the field for the Bears - rookie QB Kevin Hogan would take the nod after an impressive preseason that saw him complete 87% of his passes in limited playing time. By week 4, the Bears stand at 1-2.

"At last, the 2016 season is at an end for us poor Bear fans! After 17 miserable weeks our misery is over, with a pathetic 4-12 record - good enough for the fourth worst in the NFL. No longer do we have to suffer through two of the most inept units in football struggle through 60 minutes. 4-12. 4-12. Jeez. Anyways, let's have a little recap. Kevin Hogan? He started out bad, but somehow ended off worse. Week 8 he has 10 TDS to 7 picks - not good but not necessarily bad either, shows potential...then he has a fit and throws for only 6 touchdowns and 12 interceptions for the remainder of the season. Not to fear though, because our running game was fantastic! 210 attempts and 704 yards for Howard, with 4 tds? Amazing! Not exactly his fault though. Our offensive line was absolutely dreadfl in the running game, and it didnt help that most of our touchdowns went to Langford(7). Considering how awful our offense was as a whole, though, recently resigned Alshon Jeffery did pretty good. 74 receptions,1098 yards and 3 touchdowns. Not the best of seasons, but this is godly considering the crew around him. Our defense might have actually been good if we didn't turn the ball over like the worst of them. Nick Kwiatkowski and Leonard Floyd, both rookies, did pretty good for themselves, accounting for 142 and 122 tackles, respectively. And no double digit sack numbers, of course, but Akiem Hicks did put together an alright 8.0 sacks to lead the team. Now all we need is for him to get over the hump. Interceptions, though, we did a little better. 2 for Floyd, Jones Quartey, Callahan, Fullera nd Porter, and 1 for Jones, Amos, and Kiwiatkowski. Not too bad, fellas. Not too bad. That's it for the Bears season recap! Sorry to any fellow Bear fans that may not have been able to get through this mess of a season..." -- Nick Kwiatoski, a fourth round selection for the Bears, ended up winning the DROY in a close battle - with his team mate Leonard Floyd. The two were bright spots on a simply horrifying Bears team, and put together respectable campaigns. In the end, Nick ended up getting the nod simply because of his tackle numbers. No other Bears player would get close to an award.

Other news: The Jaguars went 10-6 - and all in thanks to their quarterback. Blake Bortles had another breakout season, throwing for over 5,000 yards, 43 touchdowns, 17 interceptions, completing 65% of his passes and managing a 103.7 QB rating. All career bests for your league MVP. Although Aaron Rodgers had another incredible season, throwing for over 5,000 yards, 39 touchdowns and 21 picks, the Packers managed a paltry 6-9-1, likely attributed to a dead ground game and injury struck defense. Devonta Freeman - not Elliott or Bell - led the league in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns this season, with only 1 fumble. He averaged 5.0 yards a carry. AJ Green had a REMARKABLE season for the Bengals. 111 receptions and 1776 yards - over 200 yards away from second place, Antonio Brown. He also led the league in TDS, with 16, and RAC yards, with 696. Know that record, that one for sacks in a season? Yeah, that's gone now. Giants DE Olivier Vernon proved to be the best FA signing in the league, recording TWENTY THREE SACKS. Vernon wasn't the only DE getting it done in the trenches though, as rookie DE Joey Bosa recorded 19 sacks this season - 2nd best in the league behind the aforementioned Vernon. Vontae Davis of the Colts would lead the league in interceptions with 7.

VICTORY FOR THE AGES Russel Wilson and his Seahawks get their second Super Bowl ring, defeating the Steelers 35-17. TROUBLE IN CHICAGO After choosing to keep Cutler as the only QB on their roster, not resigning any of their other QBs, the Bears trade Jay Cutler to the Browns for a 2018 6th round pick. Reports indicate that Ryan Everest had an already existing distate for the Bears QB. Who does that leave? Well, there aren't many options, but that doesn't mean there aren't any. RGIII is always going to be an interesting one, with guys lik Case Keenum, Colin Kaepernick, Brian Hoyer and Blaine Gabbert not too far behind. So who do the Bears go for? We'll see.

FRANCHISE QB? With ### McFarland, the indisputed best QB in the draft, going #1 overall to the Browns, the Bears still had many options at #4 in the draft. Instead of taking a QB, however, they chose to trade down with the Bengals down to #17 for a second roudner next year an a first rounder this year. WIth that new selection, the Bears selected the 6'7 RT out of Stanford. WHat about a QB? Well, they gave aay 1/3 of their third rounders next year, a second rounder this year and a seventh rouner this year for the Cowboys 18th pick in the draft, which they used to select the fastest, most mobile QB in the draft. Sydney Parnell out of Oklahoma was insanely fast, running a 4.47 at the combine. He registered over 1,200 yards in his final season at Oklahoma. He threw for 3,500 yards and threw for 35 touchdowns, running for 17. Can Sydney Parnell be the franchise QB the Bears need? Apparently not, at least not yet. All throughout training camp Coach Ryan Everest was giving Fitpatrick the nod, and that doesn't seem to be looking to change, as Parnell threw for 1 touchdown and 4 picks in the preseason, looking unready to take the job as a starter. Fitzpatrick, meanwhile, threw for 4 touchdowns and 0 picks in his only start of the preseason, as he was dealing with an injury suffered in training camp. Other notes: With the emergency of Nick Kwiatkoski, there is no need for Trevethan. Him and Lamar Houston are traded for the Chargers first round pick in 2019 and second round pick this season. Kevin White has exploded this preseason, catching 11 balls for 293 yards and 5 touchdowns. Jeremy Langford will be getting the start over Jordan Howard, as he has displayed better speed, power, quickness, and vision than Howard throughout the preseason. Howard will still be getting some snaps, however. Leonard Floyd and Nick Kiwatkoski continue their campaign as a dealy LB duo. as Floyd registered 15 tackles, 2 sacks and a pick while Nick took over for 25 tackles, 0 sacks and 1 interception.

CINDERALLA STORY? The Bears, after going a pathetic 4-12 last season, have completed an undefeated preseason, including difficult matcups against the Lions, Broncos, Vikings, and Texans. Are they for real, or another preseason fluke? We'll see when the Bears open the season up at home against the Eagles.

TRICKERY Eagles LB Eric Kendricks is being investigated for sorcery after a crucial pick 6 that saw his arm reach through Kevin Whites neck and torso before leaving him falling on the ground, entering the endzone with no worries. - "0-1. Jesus, that hurts. 41-38 in an overtime thriller. And at first, you may want to pin the blame on a certain Ryan Fitzpatrick. But I'm here to defend my quarterback. 3 touchdowns(including a downfield beauty to Kevin White) to 3 interceptions. Mediocre at best, aye? Not when you consider that the first interception was on the run while being pressured by a man twice your size and 'bout a decade younger, or that the second is being investigated for magic, or that the third was thrown with 1 second left on the clock to our running back. Not his fault. Also, Kevin ###### #### This dude is feasting. Out TWO SEASONS, comes back in his first NFL game and records 7 catches for 121 yards and 2 touchdowns. He's a burner that can catch a deep ball. Him and Jeffery are going to turn the heads of defenders for years to come. Speaking of feasting, I wasn't a big fan of starting Jeremy Langford over Howard at first. He struggled his rookie season, certainly, but I personally attribute most of those to the oline. But man oh man, he's proved me wrong so far. 15 carries and ONE HUNDRED EIGHTY SEVEN YARDS. Maybe he lost us the game with his struggles in over time and the fourth quarter, but I don't even care. He should've had another 82 yards if it wasn't for a dumb holding call by his TEthat didn't even effect anything. You know what, though? For the first time in years, I actually have hope in a Chicago football team."

"Another season and another hopeful Bears season turned off by disappointment from almost all ends of the team. Langford was given only 150 carries despite his wonderful performance in week 1. Really sad, honestly. I feel bad - it's not his fault that Everest has no idea how to split snaps. Regardless of a devoid run game, welcome back to Bears football radio. 5-11, so a one game improvement - not...bad? Actually bad, but considering how bad we've been recently this might as well be 16-0. We actually have a decent quarterback for once, as Ryan Fitpatric thrwe for 3,354 yards, 62%, 29 touchdowns and 11 picks with a 104.3 QB rating. Not that bad actually. Very happy with our receivers this season. Alshon Jeffery and Cameron Meridith put up 84 and 66 catches, respectively, 1,167 yards and 1,146 between the two. Kevin White also made a splash in his first season after being plagued by injuries, racking up 64 catches, 854 yards and 6 ouchdowns. Very good season by our receiving core - extremely impressed. Defense was once again solid. Nick Kiwatkoski led the team in tackles once again, recording 153, with Leonoard Floyd behind with 119. No one on the team got even close to double digit sacks, as Bullard led the team with 5.5. We did solid for intecerptions once again, with Bryce Callahan recording 3, Fuller getting 3, and a long list of people with 1.

CURSED How do you throw for 4,638 yards, 41 touchdowns and 18 interceptions and not win MVP? Be on the Saints, of course! Even though Drew Brees had by far the best season as any quarterback, he did not win the coveted MVP award as his weak Saints team did not manage to get to .500. Instead, the award goes to Russeil Wilson, who threw for 34 touchdowns to 6 ints with 3,732 yards, en route to leading the Seahawks to a 13-3 record. LIFE AFTER BRADY After Brady retired as one of the best players - if not the best - in NFL history, all eyes were on the Patriots to see what they would do with the QB situation. They stuck with their boy Jimmy Garoppolo, and boy did it pay off - the man threw for 4,215 yards, 3 touchdowns to 12 interceptions. Obviously not the best season, but still a top 10 QB performance. He's definitely going to be a star for years to come. COMEBACK Last season, the Cowboys were missing ##### ###### 4 overall pick Elliott, who was lost in week 2 with a torn ACL. He came back strong, however, rushing for 1,222 yards on 291 carries with 8 touchdowns. There's hope for you yet, young man. UNEXPECTED? The top 3 leaders in receptions for the 2017 season were Tajae Sharpe, Mohamed Sanu, and Jordy Nelson. While they're all solid receivers, none of them are quite who you expect to be at the top of any league wide stat list - sans maybe Nelson. Sharpe would also lead the league in TDs with 15. YOU GET A SACK, YOU GET A SACK Last season, Olivier Vernon broke the single season sack record with the Giants. Justin Houston said nuh-uh, though, and took over with TWENTY FIVE SACKS. Aaron Donald also broke the record with 24.5. Neither Vernon nor Bosa, the two leaders in sacks last season, were in the top 10 for sacks.

WOW. Down 6 points in the fourth quarter with only :42 seconds left, Blake Bortles knew he had to make something happen. And so he did. Driving down the field with only two minutes, Blake Bortles threw a couple of beauties to Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns before setting up the game winning TD strike to your Super Bowl MVP - Allen Robinson - with only 3 seconds left on the clock. A season after having a remarkable third season, Blake Bortles walks home a Super Bowl champion.

*Other notable picks QB Dion Archie and WR Jaylon Jayson The two Pittsburgh products have been the most feared WR-QB duo in college football for the past 3 seasons, and in each 3 season have improved in productivity. Each season they have broken the previous records for the most catches, yards, and touchdowns gained between a QB-WR in college history. Pitt is going to miss both of these legends. (Archie went to Saints, Jayson to Patriots) QB Kerry Reece I really don't know what to say. Eagles jut drafted a QB with superstar when they already have Carson Wentz on roster...? -- "Bear football news, we're back again! Bears hit me with another promising draft, one that I'm sure will find a way to disappoint me. First off, Spencer Graham and Blewitt - both amazing players, and both were underrated. Despite my personal belief that Graham was easily the best CB coming out of college he had multiple CBs listed over him - that's not including the LBs and safeties that were placed above him for whatever reason. Regardless, he's going to complement Fuller nicely. Vito Blewitt is EASILY the best safety in the class, and contests Graham for best DEFENDER in the class in my opinion. He is a strong, fast, athletic safety that is feared for his ability to hit, but is also a very good cover safety. A threat for years to come. And finally, Irvin Hugo. Hugo really struck me hard. He's a power back out of Texas - but a power back that ran for the fifth fastest combine speed. He can run, catch, block - he's scary. Of course, all of these players are gonna dissapoint. As always."
