It's absolutely disgraceful. These people are getting paid essentially by the fans (if you go back and look at where the money comes from it all comes from tv deals and attendance so the fans) to go and play. besides that The NHL plays just as many games, is way more physically demanding then basketball, AND doesn't make nearly as much money as the NBA, DO the players there rest? no. I haven't ever seen DNP-REST by ###### ######## name get off the bench and play tbh

It's better to not risk injury The solution to the problem is to start the season earlier to avoid back to backs or just simply shorten the season

These players also have families and loved ones who they provide them Putting them at risk to injury is potentially damaging their career and their source of income. You get injured, no more sponsorships, and no more deals. If you are a true fan you would understand

my main point is to look at the NHL which goes through the same things, players don't complain there or miss games and their sport has a much higher risk of injury

NHL and Basketball are two different sports NHL players are trained to endure that type of stuff it's hard to compare the two imo

You're such a horrible fan all you're thinking about is the league's revenue and not the fact that these are actual humans that need rest and not ####### robots.

shorten/spread out the season or something the thing that suks imo is fans who buy the tickets then dont get to see them play

"the thing that suks imo is fans who buy the tickets then dont get to see them play" if you're going to an NBA game just to see a player, chances are you're a female who has a ##### ## said player. man up and watch your favorite team, that's the whole damn point of basketball, to root for your favorite/hometown team

That's where I'd have to disagree. You can compare them in that their scheduling is similar. (Yes I know the NHL does play less back to backs, but their games are 12 minutes longer anyways that must add up to something) Basketball players now now that they are going to be put through an 82 game schedule, should they not be prepared just as much as the NHL players are?

... or an opportunity to witness a player like lebron james that you dont get every day?

Also like Sir says why go to NBA games to support specific players and not the team? Kinda defeats the whole point of watching the game of basketball.

I'm not talking about the teams revenue I'm talking about the players revenue. If he's getting paid to play he should play. I get that they're human but aren't NHL players also? I think it's weak when they play a shorter, less physical game and still need to rest

I do however agree with you guys 100% on the why go to watch 1 player. however the counter argument for that is that a lot of people (including myself) look when buying tickets for the game where the really good team is coming to town so I can see how my team would do against the best of the best (because my teams aren't always the best) and it is disappointing when they don't show up.

Chances are if a player's resting, it's a star player on a team that's going to go deep in the playoffs. You can watch him on TV or in the arena winning games in the playoffs. The more he gets breaks during the season, the more longevity he can provide to the team during the playoffs, where it's win-or-go-home.

Why are you comparing the NBA to the NHL it seems as if your trying to make a subtle passive aggressive argument as to why the NHL is better than the NBA the difference between NHL and NBA is also that they have shifts right? You don't have NHL players playing 30-36 minutes (and if the game goes into overtime, more) on the ice.

Maybe NBA teams should do a heads up in advanced idk but its really the NBA's fault for #### poor scheduling

"You can watch him on TV" to some people watching lebron james on tv is not the same as being able to witness him in person

They get 2 days rest in the playoffs though between games and a week before the playoffs start, this goes back to my first point, Basketball isn't the most body-to-body physical sport in the world, It's my opinion that they it is weak of them to rest when, looking at hockey they play a more physical game with the same ammt of games and don't rest.

@moldy well they cant rlly do it in advanced by very much, because it depends on the situation of the player/team at that time but yeah it's completely the nba's fault for the scheduling
FiestaBear01
#212520399Wednesday, March 22, 2017 3:58 AM GMT

@moldy don't prefer either league, I support both and I love each sport equally but I do get disappointed when I see players taking games off.

Dude the thing is i'm sure the players are more than capable of playing. the fact is them playing puts them at risk for injuries. It's not a matter of being weak or tired its a matter of safety. When your playing so much in a game that requires so much energy your eventually going to have to stop and rest.

"to some people watching lebron james on tv is not the same as being able to witness him in person" I'm going to be dead ### honest here. Timmy D is my favorite player of all-time and the Spurs are my favorite NBA team (if y'all already didn't know). I've been to a few Spurs games in my life, and I am going to tell you that my favorite thing about going to the AT&T Center is NOT seeing the players in person. It's the crowd and the energy and how pumped up the arena gets. That may just be though. Personally, I can appreciate the player's game better on TV where I get better angles courtesy of the camera.

#212520528Wednesday, March 22, 2017 4:01 AM GMT

Exactly, that's my problem. All sports have a risk of injury, but if you're getting paid to play a damn sport for a living you should be doing that. I get if you feel like you're about to be injured, but let's be honest. ##### ################## or Lebron recently weren't about to tear a hamstring, Lebron said he was tired and Steph looks fine
