@moldy
they might not know when they have to rest until then, not easy to tell when you might rest someone too much in advance
@sir
i agree but i would much rather go to a warriors @ pelicans game than a lakers @ pelicans game because i get to witness players like seth's brother.. and then if he rests... well yeah i get to be at the game and all.. but just kind of wishing i could've watched him play. you know? it's not that you only go to the game to watch that one person play |
that brings me to another issue, This wouldn't cause so much of a problem if they rested players separately from one another. For example maybe if Lebron took a night off but Kyrie and Kevin Love were playing that it wouldn't be so bad and make people so angry, but they rest all 3 on the same night. |
Who cares? I went to a Spurs game once when they played the Charlotte (Bobcats at the time) when the Bobcats were REALLY BAD, and the tickets were like just under $10. Parking was more expensive than the tickets. I still enjoyed the experience |
"Who cares?"
people that may not be you |
@sir the only problem with that is not every team generates attendance like the spurs. I'm a Jazz fan and if the Jazz are playing a team like the nets the atmosphere won't be there because the arena won't be full |

I'm not sure NBA teams resting players is an inherently bad thing, but sir, you're being a bit close-minded and have to realize that others can have differing opinions
A big part of the NBA is "star attraction," the ability to be able to watch legendary players in person truly matters to A LOT of people |
"I'm not sure NBA teams resting players is an inherently bad thing"
it's bad to me that they have to do so
it's not hard for the NBA to make it a non-issue |
I mean I understand people have differing opinions and perspectives here, but this is one I just really don't get. IN MY OPINION, people shouldn't watch the NBA to be a LeBron or a Curry fan. They should watch it to be a basketball fan, or a Lakers fan, or a Celtics fan, or a Heat fan.
To each his own, but in my personal opinion I just don't get the fuss. Players need rest and just go enjoy the game of basketball and the arena experience |

this is even more ridiculous than serbia
this is all the nba's fault first off, and second off i care moreso about the player than the revune they'd make otherwise and whining, inconsiderate babies who say "OH, well palyers in THIS completely unrelated sport where players undergo a MUCH different conditioning and training processes don't get rested, so why should THESE babies rest in a much less physical game?"
jesus christ |

It's a calculated decision. They are aware that resting star players could lead to negative press, but feel the benefits outweigh the costs. The only time it really matters is for nationally televised games, that's where the NBA could step in--hurts the TV companies who have no control over lineups and make decisions based on what they THINK will happen |
I promise you no NBA fan will care if their team ends up winning the finals or even just ends up doing well in the playoffs |
what do you mean by "Step in"
because im more so talking about scheduling |
It's perfectly fine if teams elect to rest players or not
And I think that the coaches should give the players only like a few minutes if they decide not to rest so people can see who they want to see. |

How dare a tam rest their star players in preparation for the playoffs! It's not like they're gonna need that energy anyway.
I mean they rest players in all leagues, NFL, MLB, even MLS.
It's nothing new so why is this a problem exactly? |
Good point nuke
Why does no one get accept when NFL teams rest their players in the last weeks or play backups? |
We've got to be real, some games are more important to the league then others for financial purposes. If they wanted to curve the rest issue at least a little bit, they could enforce something for national TV games |

I've gone to games where star players have been rested.
Doesn't really hurt the experience at all. Infact its pretty interesting to see the bench guys get some time, since you don't see them too often. |
I kinda agree a little about with fiesta about the national televised games |
"Doesn't really hurt the experience at all."
I'm sure a few fans at the Warriors vs Spurs game may have disagreed |

"I'm sure a few fans at the Warriors vs Spurs game may have disagreed"
Maybe Warriors fans that made the trip for the game, but I'm fairly certain that 99% of Spurs fans don't care. Their team won and they had a great time at the game and that's all that matters |
