"why would you not record guitar and vocals separately? and why not use an audio interface"
a lot of pros record their stuff together, sometimes they just put one mic up in a room and record the whole band and their dynamics (e.g. early beatles and early beach boys)
you know this actually forces a band to be good with dynamics and being able to play well instead of just recording everything and messing with the volume after, learned this from my guitar teacher and he has his own albums...
ofc if you want some amazing quality, record everything separately, but you dont need to be an audiophile and get everything amazing on a computer, imo analogue sounds way better than digital and you cant get analogue even via plugins, but even now, why worry about quality, just save up for studio time if youre so concerned about quality, john and paul had over 200 songs wrote before they even went in the studio... |
