"Konnichiwa" does not mean "Hello" in Japanese. "Gutentag" does not mean "Hello" in German. Same as "Good afternoon" does not mean "Hello." Better to be accurate. For example: "Guten morgen" is "Good morning" and "Guten tag" is "Good afternoon".
