Modern "Antiviral" therapy doesn't attempt to kill the pathogen itself, It merely interferes with the process of viral replication until the Immune-System can develop an efficient response against the virus. An exception to this would be HIV.

"Malwarebytes" is an Anti-Malware program designed to be utilized with Anti-Virus software to provide thorough protection. It's certainly an excellent program to install in conjunction with an Anti-Virus program, though I'd also recommend that you keep the programs you install updated regularly and attempt to utilize "Positive" browsing habits.
