I think that they might. I'm surprised they haven't already. I've seen quite a few people suggest it, and I can't think of any major cons to the idea. ~Wow Such Siggy~

Aq way your idea could be changed is that a thread would be deleted over time like after maybe 6 months or more to prevent people from posting on a thread that was made a year ago Armadillos lurk in your toaster

Support, you theoretically do the same thing with deleting rude posts with groups, whereas all post deletions would be recorded into the audit log.

Well then I guess mods need to pay more attention to people that flame. also some people flame because they try to get the point across but no one seems to be paying attention so they flame it everyday till someone notices them (which isn't really that good but they are attention seekers so what would you expect) Armadillos lurk in your toaster
