Is this good for gaming? Or is it just good enough?

This chipset is mainly for multimedia, you'll be able to play games like quake, any source engine games, basically any non-graphically intensive game.

And what I have isn't an actual Graphics Card, correct?
Mrfun
#101572019Monday, June 17, 2013 9:52 AM GMT

Technically it is, it's not a discrete one, however. You can get something like a Radeon 7770 or GTX 650 Ti that will run most games at mid/high settings at 720p to 1080p.

Okay, I'll buy one in a few days or so

actually, the HD 4000 is pretty competent at playing games at low to mid-low settings.

It is, but it doesn't do so hot in newer games. A gpu upgrade isn't needed if the OP isn't going to play Crysis 3 or Metro: Last night.

Well I would like to get BioShock Infinite

"Well I would like to get BioShock Infinite" well, an HD 4000 probably wouldn't work for that.
Mrfun
#101572923Monday, June 17, 2013 10:24 AM GMT

I'm pretty sure the 4000 would run it at low/mid settings. Might have to turn down the resolution to get 30+ fps, not too sure. People at Tom's Hardware might give you a better analysis

Integrated graphics are very poor. Intel HD Graphics 4600 is a little better.

I think the lastest gen (4th gen-haswell) intel cpus have better integrated graphics. Still, if you want to play any games with graphics worth mentioning, you need a dedicated card.

I have that. It is pretty good, but also, "graphics dont matter, gameplay does"
Paraphilia

""graphics dont matter, gameplay does" except that gameplay doesn't matter when you can't even play the game.

#101641217Monday, June 17, 2013 11:24 PM GMT

Most likely not, zacattack. For most laptops, only the RAM and storage are upgrade-able.
