One problem, if an account is stolen or something they could "gift" all of the items to their own account.

I read your post and thought about it When you have access to the gifting system you'll get a code and you have to type it whenever you gift a hat to someone else

That code system you mentioned.... simple, yet brilliant. A request code button on the account page that sends your code to the current email, and each time the email changes, so does the code. And can be applied to all purchases/trades/item deletes, or you type it in once after logging in, and you are given a cookie that deletes itself every 24 hours if you haven't logged out. Brilliant solution to account stealing.
