Many believe Franklin Delano Roosevelt was a great president. Now I'm way too tired and way too f'ed up right now to provide a legitimate argument so I'll do that tomorrow. I just have one thing to say right now. Executive Order 9066.

@dead The Japanese were still attacked anyway, and when they came back after the war, most of their property and belongings were destroyed, damaged, or burned. Some were even killed by harsh conditions or brutality from American soldiers in the internment camps. Most Japanese had to sell everything they owned for extremely low prices. I heard one case where a man was being forced to sell his home for $11 and he decided to burn it to the ground instead, that's how insulted he was at the offer.

Canada did the same exact thing to the Japanese during WW2. "Go to Heaven for the climate, Hell for the company" - Mark Twain

@Tchap From historical documents, America's internment camps were a lot more brutal.

I know what Germany did during WWII 'ya goof. But obviously, we are not Germany and we take way too much credit for WWII. And it's funny how nobody's taught about the internment camps in the school system.

Around the 20th Century, a lot of countries have a lot of things they aren't proud of. Not trying to start a flame war but it seems America has the most. "Go to Heaven for the climate, Hell for the company" - Mark Twain

I agree. But WWII was a hard fought war, I think Russia should be taking more credit than us. They keep their mouths shut though. Its like taking all of the Afgani people in the US and putting them in labor/death camps..

idk, maybe you have a point. some of the japanese didn't want to leave when the war was over. they said they felt safer and that their lives were there now.

@Alejandro I wouldn't go that far. After all we completely ended the war in the Pacific, and with our allies' help we pretty much ended the war in Europe with D-Day.

@tato sure I understand all of that but my main issue with all of this is that none of this is taught in the school system when students learn about world war two, and americans are taught that their country is powerful and the most dominant force in the world

It was taught in my curriculum. Although I already had previous knowledge of this. No President was ever perfect. Taking that seat in the oval office can bring a man to do a lot of things that he would have never thought about doing before. Just be thankful we have some sort of a check and balance system in play.

@Kap I think Germany's goal of that was to separate themselves from when they were a Fascist nation. Not to ignore it or pretend it isn't there.
