That's my band. Here's a blurb advertisment I threw together earlier:
"Sup. My band's name is Jagged Thorn. PM me for more information. We give $60 a month to needy children in Asia, and we need your help to sustain that link. Purchasing our songs will contribute to that $60 a month donation. The rest of the money will contribute to making our music better, for we don't make enough money to buy random crap yet.----------Currently we don't have any songs up yet. The expected price per song of our digital mix album will be $0.20. If our music turns out better than that we will do anywhere from a quarter to half a dollar. We don't have any electric instruments yet, so we make synthesis music. (Read above to understand where your money is going.)-------To sell our songs, we will have a bandbox widget placed in our website (can't say the link, but you can ask through PM). Bandbox gives 100% back to it's artists, so you are not contributing towards nothing. The reason is because they advertise on their widgets, and they get all advertising money. But famous artists such as Taylor Swift, when they sign a contract with bandbox, they receive a portion of that money.-----------------Thanks for reading this annoyingly long blurb =D"
Of course it's all true. But I'm going to give you guys some more info on my band.
The type of music we play is >almost< everything. We will have soft acoustic, hardcore metal, rock, etc.
Things we DON'T play are pop, jazz, blues, rap, etc. That random crap that most of us hate.
The names of our band members (first names only) are:
David - Lead Guitarist/Everything non-instrument/Started the band/Most importantly, me =D
Andrew - Drummer/Best Friend
Craig - Side Guitarist/Brother
Jason - Pending Side Guitarist/First Inspiration
Matt - Bass Player (At this point can be replaced)/Saved us from copyright suit
There. Now you know my first name, happy? Anyway... I got a new dog recently! Anyway...
That's pretty much it for now. Thanks for reading =D |

wow that sounded awesome!
how did u make it? |
|

Sound effects (we don't have a studio to record in so I make synthesis music right now).
Later on in the month I will have some synthesis music up for sale. Depending on how good they are I will sell them for about a quarter each. If I don't like them that much, I will sell them for 5-20 cents, and if I hate them I will not sell them.
If I like them a lot I will sell for 30-40 cents, and if it turns out to be one of my favorite songs ever I will sell it for 40-50 cents, but no higher. |

50 cents is your highest???
I thought you wanted to give $60 to needy children in Asia. How are you supposed to get $60 if ur good songs are only 50 cents? |
|
|
It's a simple equation.
If we make 20 tracks per album at 0.00 cost to us and we sell them all for 50 cents, every person who buys the whole album gives us 10 bucks. And since the songs are cheap we will get more sales.
Let's say that every month... a good estimate would be 75-200 people bought 1-20 songs. So at the minimum, we would get somewhere around 30 bucks PER album. That's when it first comes out. And a reasonable amount per month would be somewhere around 130 bucks PER album. Each of those are every month.
And the max for our first album where people don't know about us that much is a pretty simple equation.
Min: 30 bucks
Reasonable estimate: 230 bucks
Maximum: 2000 bucks
All PER album PER month
So there is a HUGE range with these pricings. Now, on the second album (assuming our first album was a moderate-good success), we should get around 400-1000 people. We raise the prices a little bit and go to about 65 cents.
The maximum here for each 20 song album is now 13 dollars per album.
If 1000 people were to buy this album, we would >obviously< receive 13,000 dollars! Per month!
Now, if our second album was a HUGE hit and everyone now loved us, we could sell our songs for iTunes prices (99 cents each). So about a dollar each.
If we had 500,000 fans, and each one of those fans bought just ONE of our songs every month, we would get 500k dollars a month. If those 500,000 fans were to buy the entire album, just once, we would get 10 million dollars. Poof, we're 16 year old millionaires.
You see how that works? |
