for me it's 2003: i can only think of about 3 albums i liked that came out this year, while i can get a much higher count from pretty much every other year in the 2000s
(for the curious: Blur's Think Tank, Jay-Z's The Black Album, Radiohead's Hail to the Thief)
also for the guy who said 2013: have you even LISTENED to anything from 2013 i mean seriously this has been a really strong year so far
two other people here have already said Deafheaven - Sunbather and i'm also nominating that because good god is it brilliant |

yes |

Odelay was a great album, I agree. 1997 was terrible for music though, with Hanson's MMMBop (which is purely terrible, in and out) and Celine Dion, who brought more pain to men in its appearance in Titanic... agh |

@David: I can get down to that.
@Rhys: Odelay is a great album. imo Sublime is the better album from that year, though. |

Also, does anyone here who listens to Nas think that 'It Was Written' is better than 'Illmatic'? Most people say his debut was better, but I disagree. 'The Message' and 'Street Dreams' are good songs, a lot of energy in them both. |

Let's not forget "Barbie Girl" was made in 1997, also. .-. |
|
|
1997 wasn't bad at all.
"Homework", by Daft Punk.
"Clumsy", by Our Lady Peace.
"Freak Show", by Silverchair.
"Marcy Playground", by themselves.
"Let's Face It", Mighty Mighty Bosstones.
"Dig Your Own Hole", Chemical Brothers.
"In It For The Money", Supergrass.
"Full Circle", Pennywise.
"Colour And The Shape", Foo Fighters.
"Days Of The New", by themselves.
"OK Computer", Radiohead.
"Dude Ranch", Blink - 182.
"Fabulosos Calavera", Los Fabulosos Cadillacs.
One hit wonder Harvey Danger "Flagpole Sitta"
"Radiator", Super Furry Animals.
"Vegas", The Crystal Method.
Buena Vista Social club debut.
"Portishead", by themselves.
"Come To Daddy", Aphex Twin.
"So Much For The Afterglow", Everclear.
Blur's "Blur"
