A good comparison would be this.
Builder:I have spent 50 years doing it, but I have finished building my master piece, an exact, full scale, working replica of the death star.
*Random jerk walks up to it, slices it in half with a giant laser cutter, then dumps lava on it and sets it on fire.*
Jerk:Wow, doesn't it look nicer now?
Builder:NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ALL MY WORK!!!!! |

Hmmm sometimes I wonder exactly how it happened to only the best builders of Robloxia. |

Apparently they said in BLOXcon London that outlines are gonna be made optional (even within the month). But maybe keep this thread alive till they released it, just in case they would be trolling us.

Thanks tamoti, Lets keep the anti-outlines threads active until they do make them optional.. |

@tamoli They've never really backed down on their word as far as I've seen. They're just painfully slow at times. |
|

I notice them in my parts. And it makes me MAD. I support this. |
|
|
@rayblon, Lets give them a kick in the pants by keeping these threads active then :3 |

@ rayblon, I'm afraid that making it optional isn't a priority (it hasn't even been announced on the Roblox news blog (yet)).
And that if it would turn out to be more complex than they initially thought maybe they would decide to drop the idea, if they notice people aren't talking about it anymore.

Full support. |

Outlines should be optional in the menu. You could turn it on to see just how complex the game is, and then turn it back off. |

@Tamoti True.
@Bugor I disagree. I think it should be a brick property because outlines DO have redeeming qualities -- in the right places. Imagine a solid wall, and then outlined bricks exposing cracks in a weak portion of it. Far better than all or nothing IMO. |

WHY THIS THREAD SHOULD BE CLOSED:

Emerson wrote an essay on that |

I don't follow your logic. Aesthetics are vitally important to games as much as gameplay are, and Roblox's DIY theme means that just about anything could be optional (within reason).
Saying that because something is part of aesthetics means it can't be optional is like saying that you can't make hybrid games- which has been done time and time again (RPGs being the most commonly mixed). |

@daneel
Go play Minecraft. (before beta 1.8.)
then get out.

It's becoming optional?
Thank God / Charles Darwin / Other Diety / the Great Builder, they actually care. |
|

Gus, please take time to read my post again. Nothing I said implied that high-resolution textures were necessary for graphical quality. Or, for that matter, that I even went over the subject of graphical quality.
And yes, I play Minecraft, and enjoy it immensely. |

@dan
oh, sorry.
I have a knack for mis-understandings.

I'd make it optional in the settings menu
