Ok, so this paid access idea is a great idea (imo) for several reasons:
-Encourages high quality games to be made (If someone get tired of crap obbies/free model places, they can splurge a bit of cash to go to a good game)
-NBC Members get paid more for their hard work (and I mean work hard for that 10 percent, which is meager, but still something)
-Allows members to "sell" their game, like a product (much like real life games that you purchase)
Now, the reason I made this thread is to put emphasize on the last reason: selling your idea.
How does an NBC member wish to sell his/her game? Well, as of right now, there are several ways:
-The comments section. Individual players will give good ratings about this place, encouraging people to want to play.
-Advertising is a great way to get people to know about your game.
However...there still lacks an important part. What makes a person want to play a game...
Suppose you went to E3 and they were announcing the release of a game you have never heard of. The people who made the game say it's amazing. The beta-testers say it's great. Even your friends are readying their wallets for this amazing game. But you are not convinced. You don't know what the game entails. You know what it's about according to the title, a couple of screenshots, and a brief summary.
It is not until you see the game play that you are convinced. Now you know what the game is. You know what to expect when you buy it, and you know that you will be satisfied when you do. In a sense, you got a little taste of the big thing, wanting you to yearn for more.
A big problem in wanting to play games in ROBLOX is not knowing what to expect when you decide to. A game can say its one thing, but it becomes something completely different, leaving one disappointed. Even if we see a game that might catch our eye, we might not want to actually play it. Suppose you see an RPG that looks really nice. You've played several RPG's on ROBLOX in the past, but most of them were way less than what you expected.
Now, you look at this. Featured on the game page is a 30 second video showing a "preview" of the game. Knights, Dragons, adventure. You see everything flash before you. Now, upon seeing this, you are convinced that this game might be of substance. This encourages you even further to want to try the game. But imagine now, you have the additional incentive of having to pay before trying this game. You weigh the odds, but then you say "heck, looks good. Might as well spend the money".
SUCCESS. You have a customer.
-This is what I would imagine would be the thought process of a customer whom you're trying to sell your product (the game) to.
Now, we are aware that putting up videos as advertising is a BC-Only feature.
I propose that we turn this into a non-bc feature. In other words, make it available to all.
Now, why is this?
As seen in my little example, alot goes into the thought process of a customer. You need to make your product (game) as outstanding as possible to catch the eyes of potiential customers. Once you do, you need to convince them that they are in the right place, and that making the purchase to enter your game is a freaking amazing thing to do. BC-Only members have a bit of a competitive edge in this aspect because they can offer alot more incentive to get people to not only play the game, but continue playing it for lengthy periods of time (with badges, vip passes, mega places, etc.).
Now, my justification for making video ads on your game page universal for all members:
-Video ads do nothing to improve the overall gameplay of the game. BC Member features are designed to improve quality of your game play experience. Think of it like creating T-Shirts. NBC members can make t-shirts, but cannot sell them.
-Video ads will also give more power to NBC while retaining the additional benefits of BC. Crafty NBC members can take advantage of this little feature to help boost popularity of the game. It's not a feature that you can benefit off of easily, but will prove to help if you can use it effectively.
-Also, I believe Video ads are a really small incentive to get members to buy BC. Compared to all the other benefits that you receive, video ads are so minor that it hardly makes a difference. It's overshadowed by other features (even features like making badges, which is more common). But like stated in my previous point, it can prove to be useful.
That is my post. Read it, comment, like it, hate it. If you disagree or have a different idea, feel free to explain yourself.
TL;DR: Make video ads available to NBC so that they can possibly make more money. |
