It turns around. You still can't see very well in the darkness, but you can see that it's very gangly and not quite as tall as you originally thought.

Spiny looks away. Nincada takes a second, but he does so too.
You try to close your eyes, but you can't, so you put your hand over your face. It's a good thing you did, because you were really, really feeling your knees beginning to buckle. |

I steady myself and attempt to say something to the Pokemon. |

You start talking, but It appears to be doing nothing. You can still see him approaching.

You yell again.
It continues towards you. You can hear Spiny hissing, but when you look down she is desperately trying to keep her eyes from the pendulum. |

I slowly step forwards, keeping my eyes off the pendulum |

You slowly step forward.
The figure is doing the same. You look down and see he is balling his hand up into a fist. It is emanating flames. |

I step back again.
"I don't mean harm!" |

You take another step back. It steps forward, revealing itself to the light. It's a disgusting dark-green, a coloration obtained only by a rogue. It continues to brandish it's flaming fist. It's trying to get you to look at it. |

I don't look at it, and tell my pokemon to run (And I do the same) |

You command a retreat and begin one yourself. The Rogue flings his fist forward, but hits nothing. You can't see him now, but you can hear the Hypno beginning to chant something. |

Ah, information gleaned! The HYPNO is using SING, probably. I certainly hope it isn't something else, like perish song. Either way, I cover my ears and tell my pokemen to do the same |

You cover your ears, but your pokemon have a tad more difficulty with that than you as they lack hands.

I tell Spiny to use string shot towards it's face area |

He string shots it in the face, covering it's nose. After a few moments, it rips it off, causing it to stop the accursed song.

I tell Spiny to poison jab, and then Nincada to tackle the Rogue when Spiny gets out of Nincada's killsight. |

(Also, why are you not using STAB leech life that's also super effective?)
Spiny stabs it in the leg, penetrating barely but still getting away before the Hypno can stomp it. |
