"I have already mentioned this - SBs will not be considered as a game category for adding or removing features. The end." That is idiotic. There is completely no reason at all to not include any category of games to add or remove features to or from, else you cannot make what you want on roblox for the fact that the game is limiting you on something that should not be limited, but it is because it is not considered a game. Until you come out with either a way to do studio with multiple people, or remove/increase the limit on gui text, there is not one single good reason I have seen that would prove that SBs are not games. tl;dr multiplayer studio or fix the limit on the text field, and the text field one applies to every game that were to use a gui because those games are technically limited on how many characters their guis have.

SBers still work, just per line each.

Problem with entering scripts line by line: >200 line script Even if you do somehow convert it to be 1024 or less characters each line, you just took at least 30 minutes to do so and you probably still have 20 lines

A 50 line script can exceed 1024 characters. Many scripts exceed 1024 LINES. It's not like people code their scripts into the SB unless they're there to learn to script, people want to keep their scripts and be able to use them at other times and places. Maybe they're testing the script for use in their game. A normal script that isn't especially long can take far in excess of 20 copy-pastes. That defeats one of the points of SBs in the first place, immediate code execution. Spending 5 minutes to enter your script just to find out you accidentally made a single typo is not great.

This chat bar is actually a good idea; it teaches skiddies how to minify code

@blocco Do you expect me to minify my 13K character scr0pt?

#109076584Friday, August 09, 2013 6:15 PM GMT

Whereas the old limit (or effective lack thereof) teaches kiddies how to actually code anything other than removing the baseplate.

"it teaches skiddies how to minify code" I could barely minify 120 or so lines to the limit, and I barely had anything except for the base of what i wanted, with the exception of bad looking code.

@ all opposers: use one/two-letter variable names and backup the original file

That's not a good idea. My script would still be way above 1024 characters.

Then learn to code more efficiently (lol ik there's some scenarios where it's impossible)

HEY LOOK, WE IGNORE A CERTAIN TYPE OF GAME JUST SO WE DON'T HAVE TO PUSH USEFUL FEATURES

Roblox is looking at the average user; the average user will have no need to chat over 1024 characters, unless they're spamming. That's primarily why it's done this way, I think.

Would you like to look at my code?
Everesty
#109077257Friday, August 09, 2013 6:20 PM GMT

I did. All I got was a few parts with a few cool looking effects and the ability to change it easily, when the original script did that (at the minimum) and I lost what I call "Readability" and a few features, plus 30 minutes worth of time. basically, no.

It doesn't matter if the average user doesn't need longer chat, the fact is that the average user DOESN'T NEED A CHAT LIMIT EITHER. No reason has been given for the chat limit. NONE. You don't kill a game category and subcommunity because you deem something unnecessary. The majority of users actually don't care or dislike the new chatbar. Who is gaining from this?!

And it's not limited to SBs, its limited to almost any game that you can execute a script in, so just about any game where there is kohls admin, or most custom admins also have a command to execute scripts, and its not limited to the chat bar, its limited to all textboxes, textlabels, textbuttons, if theres anything more (image label I think) those too.

To cater to the intricacies of every scripter's dynamic coding dreams. And to let people show off.

> "SBs will not be considered as a game category for adding or removing features. " Why? As I mentioned earlier, "SBs are also games, like any other game, players actually enjoy it and have fun in it. Or else no one will be playing SBs. " Why ruin one of ROBLOX's games that many people actually play it and enjoy it?

"Can anyone tell me the point of SB's?" Whats the point of all other ROBLOX's games? Obvious answer, fun.

Well, I'm guessing ROLOBX considers SB's "old" and outdated, or they just don't care.

I enjoy'd script builders. I learned Lua from the wiki though. I also did learn a lot from other people at Alakazard's SB and Oxcool1's SB. These are the two places that if you are caught using a script that isn't yours, you'll be crashed. An easy way to still crash people is still existent.
