Alright robloxians. As you all know and have seen, comment pages of items, places, models, etc. have been spammed by noobs with viruses, keyloggers, and scams using spam bots to mass advertise.
Some users have been arguing ROBLOX should remove comments altogether (http://www.roblox.com/Forum/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=111046179)
I disagree! Why remove something that can actually be quite useful and cool to see? In the past, comments on hats showed offers, owners looking to trade/sell, and peoples opinions. Games had comments on how to improve on the game or tricks and tips, not a scam website!
So, here's some ideas I have came up with or have heard other users say. Feel free to support an idea or list your own, we need to improve the comment system on roblox for sure.
==IDEAS==
#1.) Every time you post a comment, you must enter a CAPTCHA code to verify your a human.
-PROS-
A.) Bots will instantly break. This will halt keylogging and virus sites from being spread by spam bots.
B.) Scammers won't waste their time trying to post on hundreds of pages if they have to also type in a code.
-CONS-
A.) It might seem like a hassle for non-spammers. Maybe this feature could be limited to every few comments or something, but as long as it's there to halt spam.
#2.) To comment, pay a fee of 1 ticket.
-PROS-
A.) Could make spamming unprofitable.
B.) Could break spambots.
-CONS-
A.)Non-spammers will be charged for this. Although most BC members will find this incredibly cheap, and NBCer probably not. ALSO, if a spambot steals a wealthy account, this will not stop it.
#3.) Better filters: Filter should block spam/websites better. If a same message is posted more than once, it should be deleted instantly or something along that lines.
-PROS-
1.) Spam will be very limited
-CONS-
2.) There will still be spam, just less
#4.) "You may only post a comment once every 3600 seconds"
Alright, this feature might have helped a little bit, but not really. See, spammers/spam bots can just jump from one item to the next spamming all day, there's THOUSANDS. This feature should be UNIVERSAL, meaning that when you post, you can't post another comment ANYWHERE for some time. 3600 seconds is too long, maybe 1 comment every two minutes or so, but only 1 comment on anything.
-PROS-
1.) Limits the amount of spam
-CONS-
1.) Spam will still be present
2.) Non-spammers pay the price too.

Some spammers use the same message over and over comments should be like the forums where you cant post the same thing |

Yep, exactly.
I'm surprised the roblox team hasn't ever sat down and thought up stuff like I just wrote down. I mean come on, something like this is a way bigger issue than uping game preformance or roblox 4.0.
The comments are a mess and people are losing their accounts, do something will ya? xd |

Even if they just disallowed certain words/phrases such as; trades, send, me. It would maybe stop some spammers. I think if they incorporated the 3600 second rule universally, the phrase disallowances, the 1tix fee, and the forum same post thing, it would cut back A LOT of spam. |

Just so many little things will really end 99% of spamming. We definitely need this to happen. I can't really see how someone could not support some idea. xD
If they did however, they should come up with their own way to stop spam here. |

Yeah, I guess the place visit thing is a nice idea. But like, it's cool to make comments on limiteds or make offers, so that wouldn't exactly work. |

On limiteds all I see is "SEND MI TRADEZ!!!!" I consider that spam as well, to be honest. You're not commenting anything about the item. When I check the comment of an item, I want to see what it looks like before I buy it. I don't care about you wanting troll trades, normal trades, or whatever.

Yes. This would be useful, as CAPTCHA codes prevent mass spam.

Eh... this is OKAY. Telamon already suggested this, though.

No, maybe if a comment is posted X amount of times (this will be an algorithm based on how many characters are in the comment times 2 divided by 8.2 = amount of times the same message can be posted within one minute) in one minute all comments with the same text will be deleted and replaced with [Content Deleted].

I agree. The comment flood blocker time should be extended, maybe to 5 minutes instead of 15 seconds? |

and btw guys, I mean make the limit shorter but make it so the limit isnt just per each item, make it for EVERYTHING at once
so you post on 1 hat, you got to wait 2 minutes to post on ANY other hats |

Nope. Everyone on roblox gets 10 tix per day. So why would only bc'ers say its cheap? Its not like its 1 ROBUX! Its 1 TIX!!! So everyone should say its cheap, not just bc....

They're all just ideas, and we don't have to use all of them. In some cases like the tix or CAPTCHA, it's one or the other. |
