TL;DR:
Start going foward, not backward.
See the bottom for a few suggestions, most of this post is an angry rant.
Oh, you thought this was going to be another "bring back the minimum price" thread that everyone's ignorantly strutting around, undoing two years of hard work on my and a lot of other people's parts, did you?
*Sigh*
No, this thread is more anti-community.
Trust good old Frozengaia to make a thread like this.
Every single rant I do.
Every single rant I really have to.
Okay fine, it's a bad idea. Good for you.
How do we show that this is a bad idea?
Let's flame it to death!
Because that solves every problem that has ever existed!
Hate who made the product!
Destroy thier inbox!
Give them death threats! (Okay, that's a little exaggurate, but I at one particular rant, there was a death threat rant. All the way back in the BC only games rant.)
After all, we're not supposed to help roblox (Which I remind you is only doing our bidding! (*WE* suggested this idea, don't forget. It was popular back in 2012. I should know, I was there. It was dismissed for being unuseable, but now it's useable. Oh, roblox never listens at all it seems.)) in thier quest for making good updates by:
Telling them the flaws of the idea,
Telling them how to fix it.
Which no one is doing.
Well, there's probably some people doing just that, and to those people you're exempt from this long rage, so thank you and congratulations for being smart.
But for the rest of you:
.-.
*Shakes head*
Here's a paradigm:
You're a company. Here you are.
You make an update (that is pretty logical from a design point of view) to your company's product/service.
A lot of your customers hate you.
You do another pretty logical (design wise) update.
Even more of your customers hate you even more.
You do revert that update.
A lot of your customers hate you even even more.
That's the situation roblox is in. No matter how it continues to evolve, to grow, there's always some pathetic imbecile trying to destroy the. Except roblox is special, oh no: Instead of ONE pathetic imbecile, there's a flood of them every update. And I mean EVERY update. There was a minor dynamic lighting one, a minor animation rant one, a majorish outline/liquid games/font update. Yet this is by far, the second worst example of ignorance I've seen on this fourm.
The could just bow to your whims, but then roblox wouldn't grow.
Truly, hope is lost.
You're making yourselves look like imbeciles.
Why listen to imbeciles?
This is not the first time (If I haven't implied this already) that people have ranted so much like this.
This in fact, is the second-worst time it's happened, the first being the BC-only games rant.
But EVERY SINGLE UPDATE (Literally!) you're doing it! And okay, it might be your first time, but the surge of new people is just so pathetic. And again, people are ignoring the WNTS, something many people (Myself included) have made threads about, some even bigger than any rant thread you'll create. Even that liquid games rant thread.
The more idiotically you post, the more you get treated like imbeciles.
Where's the constructive critisism in this entire rant?
(There's probably a few sources, but they are few and far between. They are also exempt from my rage so congratulations, please continue.)
Truly, hope is lost.
Can't we all just mature up?
Can't we all just suggest how to make the suggestion better/fix roblox's problems in a better way?
They'd listen to us more openly, then.
In fact, it's always the same pattern:
Someone posts "REMOVE!"
People agree.
When someone asks "Why?"
They respond with subjectional and emotional arguments. I, in my four years of dealing with these threads, have seen maybe... 10 people who didn't use subjectional arguments? 10?
And even then, I could pretty much easily counter-argue with only two exceptions, which I find...
I'm not a good debator. But for me to tear up arguments so easily is just... Why? Why even bother fighting?
This is because all they can think of is subjection. You can't seem to think from a design point of view (the only design that truly matters, may I add. Emotions calm down and Subjection is only powerful enough in strong numbers, and even then.)
And, sure, people may say "We don't like the idea, remove it!" but then think of the bigger picture.
(I've pretty much calmed down from the start of the thread now, enjoy.) Why don't you like the idea?
How can you be made TO like the idea?
This is where my main point comes into play; constructive. Critisism.
It's a commodity, yet everyone's ignoring it (Again, there are a few who are being constructive, but they're few and far between. They also get my thumbs up and I hope you continue your glorious work.)
Ask any semi-popular youtuber. Constructive critisism is so rare, yet they want it so much. It's the only thing that makes them better (apart from better software and obvious stuff like that.) and it isn't just semi-popular youtubers.
Everyone benefits from constructive critisism.
S&I was MADE for constructive critisism.
The WNTS was CREATED to NURTURE constructive critisism.
So, why are we breaking the rules of S&I (http://www.roblox.com/Forum/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=80622076 - "- Post suggestions using the proper format. You can read more about it here “How to Write a Suggestion”. http://www.roblox.com/Forum/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=73566197" - "2) The same goes for multiple posts in general. Please don't flood the forum with multiple posts about the same topic. If you have many ideas about the same subject (like gear ideas), then include them all in a single post.") which makes us look like an idiot, which makes us look like our opinions are worthless (which, we have proven so many times, our opinions are worthless)?
So, why are we not giving something that roblox and other people want so much, they can have so easily, and will make both parties happy? Constructive critisism is the only way we can remove this update, and it's the only way we can remove future updates. Spamming "REMOVE PL0X" simply does not work (And for those about to make an outlines comment, we asked to make it optional, not remove it. Not that much of an improvement, but still, baby steps.)
Answer me this one simple question:
Why is everyone so obcessed with reversal?
Even when going forward has always been the best way to go, as proven so many times?
I guarantee you, just like four, three, two and ((0+1), just to be grammarmatically correct)) years ago, no one will be able to answer that point to a valid degree and be destructive at the same time.
Very bottom harsh line:
Grow.
Up.
Roblox is not a democracy.
Stop treating it like one.
*TL;DR BEGINS HERE*
Now, I've not talked about the idea itself yet.
(That massive rant wasn't about the idea, but rather the community's reaction to the idea.)
I, personally, don't like the idea.
It's too clunky, It feels too restrictive.
But I'm not a hypocrite, and I will gleefully follow by example.
So, I will.
I believe that the following suggestions will be able to succinctly replace your current feature roblox, and still grant equal benefits:
Here's what we need to do:
"1. Raise the quality of items in the catalog."
"2. Reward makers and sellers of clothing."
"3. To incentivize non-paying users to buy ROBUX."
Here's how they've done it:
"!Therefore, we’re instituting a price floor of 10 R$ for T-Shirts and 25 R$ for Shirts and Pants (or 12x this amount in tickets, which is slightly above current exchange rates as of the writing of this article). Users will be able to charge more than this at their option, but they will not be able to charge less if they choose to sell their clothing in the ROBLOX catalog."
Okay, good for them.
Here's what I propose:
0) Minimum price of 50 tix or 6 robux on every item. I can understand the point of fairity, so I will honour it. But 30R$ is still some time, so 50 tix is fair. About five days for an NBCer.
Also, tix seems to be becoming an invalid and pointless currency, so that's why It's in tix, and a slightly higher (approximately) amount of robux to generate BC revenue.
Also, one or the other, not both. See below for why:
1) To raise the quality of items in the catalog, instead of forcing a high price, do something I like to call "Product purchase bonus."
So basically:
At the end of every week, roblox calculates how many of an item got bought during the week, and you get a bonus.
This bonus is equal to 2% of all your sales in robux/tix, depending on which one you use . So if a shirt costs 10 robux, and 100 people buy it that week, 10x100= 1000, 2% of 1000 is 20 (I believe) So you get 1000 robux, plus an extra 20 robux...
Yeah, the rate is a little low... It could do with a buff. I'll experiment with different things.
More quality items will get more buys, and more quality items will get rewarded.
Simple.
We're rewarding them for quality, not punishing them for not having quality.
2) Thumbs up and down on all items.
Self-explanitory, helps show quality.
3) Now, to stop piracy.
Here's how people copy shirts:
Here's a link to a shirt:
http://www.roblox.com/Scenic-Egg-of-the-Clouds-Shirt-item?id=24930445
Take away 1 from its last digit, to get this link:
http://www.roblox.com/Scenic-Egg-of-the-Clouds-Shirt-item?id=24930444
^^^^^^
THIS LINK.
GET RID OF IT.
NAO.
>:U
At least make it inaccessible, or just shut down that system of links completely.
For T-shirt users, make a decal of a generic avatar with the t-shirt being worn, like with shirts.
Gives you a feel for the shirt and helps kill copiers.
4) Now, for robux incentives.
Easy...
Well, I was going to say that, but then I realised that the prices for robux change depending on your type of BC.
So, here's my top offer:
"35000 ROBUX $199.95"
That same offer gives me LIFETIME BC.
Second top offer:
"15000 ROBUX $99.95"
For 10 dollars less (approx) I can get 12 months TBC.
That, in turn, gives me 12775 robux, which is only 2500 less, and I get other awesome features, for 10 dollars less. Meh. Who cares?
What I'm saying?
Beef up the robux offers a bit. Give us more robux for a bit less. As a rule of thumb: I'd say that for any price of robux you give us, give us 5% more roblox than the nearest BC price that's lower than or equal to the robux price in question overall.
Here's the bottom offer:
"450 ROBUX $4.95"
Basic BC gives us... 450 robux for one dollar more, PLUS all the more awesome items.
Easy.
Done.
Anyway, this should fix the problem roblox is trying to fix whilst still making us happy.
This, right here, is how you get a person in power to listen to you- Constructive critisism. |

I will be listened to.
I don't care if everyone hates me for this,
I hate them back seventy-fold for thier actions. |

They're brought this update in order to combat the problem of users copying other users' clothes and making a profit off them.
However, if you guys are looking for a solution with the problem of users copying other users' clothes, then take a look at this thread I made that explains a simple, but effective feature that will help combat this problem without the need to hike up the minimum price limit:

"since you are asking for it
report for trying to start a flame wars"
Actually,
Because for some reason,
I'm not getting flamed.
Which is abnormal- these threads kick up massive flame wars by ignoble morons.
Not WANTING a flame war,
It's just abnormal there isn't one.
"WE ARE A COMMUNITY, NOT A WALLET! "
Then act like one.

I have been here since 08 and the only three updates I have supported against is; Taking Away User Mesh's, Outlines and This update. So you're incorrect I do not yell at every update. |

@Flatline:
I was talking about the community in general.
It seemed pretty obvious from my wording...

"Oh come on, where's the flamers!?"
By taking a look at this sentences syntax and the question mark, I could tell, this was a question.
And I believe the proper verb for making a question is "ask".
So, yes, you were asking for it. |
|
|
"Instead of ONE pathetic imbecile, there's a flood of them every update. And I mean EVERY update. There was a minor dynamic lighting one, a minor animation rant one, a majorish outline/liquid games/font update. Yet this is by far, the second worst example of ignorance I've seen on this fourm." - You
|
|
|
You just don't get it, do you?
We don't like this update. At all. We never wanted any price limits. It's the fault of some few nutters that now we have to put up with high prices. If you owned a shop, would you like it if the government set minimum price limits on the goods you sell? Would you like it if those prices were way off from what the average person was earning, therefore you wouldn't get a lot of customers? I know this is a hypothetical situation, but the point I'm trying to make is that the creators of the content should be able to choose what they sell their goods at. Nobody should have to choose for them. |

Well, the moderation team'll decide that.
And I'll probably not get banned anyway, because the flame war didn't even start, and I'm preeetty sure you're just trying to use semantics against me.
Oh, and also, "Oh come on" can imply disappointment, but it can also connote confusion.
The Question mark combined with the exclamation mark doesn't indicate a question, it creates suprise/a shout.

And flatline,
Which part here is refering to a single person in particular?
No where.
"there's a flood of them every update."
That was the only part you needed to recognise.
Now, you can stop nitpicking, and look at the thread in general. |

You didn't even read the post (at least correctly), I can clearly tell because my post isn't about the idea itself, it's about the community's reaction of the idea. |
|

You wanted me to provide a decent argument against the idea, and that's what I tried to do. |

EspithelJoin Date: 2009-10-09 Post Count: 20917 |
And, you failed as far as I'm concerned.
You didn't seem to explain to me why going "foward"- Ie, giving constructive critisism and making the idea good or at least fix what the idea's trying to, was a bad idea.
You didn't even mention it.
:/
This has been a very awkward thread.
Normally, this...
Is a bit more awash with arguments. Big ones at that.
But, no.
Well, early days. |

Which part here is refering to a single person in particular?
No where.

You referred to the people protesting the update as pathetic imbeciles did you not? |

Also gaia, you cannot strenghten your own arguments and weaken our arguments by calling us imbeciles and telling us to grow up.
1st: This is a kids game, the mayority of players are 8 years olds, joining war clans, trying to be ultra disciplinated, "mature" and serious, achieving the opposite by making themselves ridiculous, because they forget it's a game (e.g. certain CGers)
2nd: Since you don't bring up any other counter-arguments than calling people imbeciles, one could easily count you to the group I have written about in the first point. Because you are acting like: "Oh, I'm so adult, so mature and grown up, I must be right, and everyone who has a different opinion is automatically an immature little baby."
tl;dr: We don't need behavior like yours in the forums.
You should learn self-criticism before you criticize others. |
