Help, I've fallen (my creative mind currently) and I can't get up (think of something good)!
I need to design gameplay for my Nuclear Simulation game, which includes retitling it to something better. The issue is, I don't know what! Therefore, I'm opening it up for suggestions from anyone.
What should the gameplay be like?
NOTE - Some limitations:
- Must be original (no zombies)
- Must all be plausible to create on a terrain-based map
- Include interactions between players on the map (not single-player)
- A nuke went off, so they're probably doing something end-of-the-worldish. |

It could be a lead up to Stranded. |

Needing to find other survivers scattered out in the remains far away, then trying to find some kind of working communication device to call in help. Of course the government wouldn't give up you help but just kill you in attempt too cover up the story |

There could be an underground group of people who knew that the nuke was happening throwing up all kinds of questions such as:
Why did they know the nuke was on its way?
Were they involved?
Why have they built up a small settlement- it can't have been a quick reaction?

When you find beans, your speed accumulates for 10 seconds (then gradually slows down). |

Make it a game where a pack of survivors (the players) are trying to reach a computer core 15 miles below surface to go back in time so they can travel to a government nuke area to disarm the nuke before it ever explodes. On their journey to disarm the nuke, I suggest that you:
-Add enemies for them to fight (not zombies)
-Divide the game into levels and add a save/load button
-Create small bases for them to take over in order to reach the next level
-Make the computer core like I mentioned earlier a puzzle (to make it harder to find the time machine)
-When they go back in time, make it seem realistic, like if they were standing under the time machine and they start floating towards it. Then, there is a big white flash and numbers appear, showing how far they are going back in time.

It could be where the nuke goes off and you must find shelter so if it rains you dont get radiation poisining then you must scavenge for food and materials to make tools out of. You must also avoid radiation zones wich will be detected by smell (there will be a bar that shows if you smell something different or wrong). You also have the risk of eating or drinking something thats been exposed to radiation. There will be a sickness bar that shows how much radiation you've obsorbed which will go down over time by not consuming radioactive materials. There will be different maps that regenerate every 60-90 minutes. There will be wildlife
that you can hunt like fish and rabbits (if you think rabbits are cute then suck it up) that have been exposed mildly to radiation. The radiation in the water will go away after about 20 minutes after the bomb.

Yeah, I like the idea of a communication device.
Maybe you see a radio (maybe you pick up some slightly broken binoculars to spot it), you go toward it and hear someone calling down it, asking for survivors. Then another explosion, a bird or a tornado picks it up and the shattered pieces of the radio fall into a stream.
The objective could be to collect the broken pieces of the radio, You could call it "Radiowaves" because it would involve a radio and water, A title like "Radiowaves" or "Soundwaves" would add to the theme of sound in the game. |

Well, I was thinking...
IN THE MIND OF THE CHARACTER:
Your devastated, you've lost all your loved ones, everyone you knew, but you have to push past that fact and move onto a bigger problem. Your all alone, everything that was, was leveled in the explosion. You scour fallen buildings for food, thinking your all alone. Your not.
You come across a group of people living solely off of food from a broken down market. As they take you in with open arms, you try to fit in. They had a fire lit, and were lugging food back to their cave, apparently. So you join in, with the group and try to fit in. It works pretty well, but you don't belong with others.
SIDE NOTE: I was thinking you meet up the other players in the game, and from there you all spread out across the map.
CONTINUE:
So the next day, you leave them and continue searching this wasteland, alone.

So you have a bar for these essentials, hunger, thirst, energy, and Radioactivity.
Almost all the food suffered from radioactive poisoning so you must be careful what you intake. |

Make it where they must get to the top of the mountain then you play as another per son and fly a pick up plane |

well what about a stage game where u need help of the others to survive and after every stage theres another scene. u can make it like if it was ww3 and u r trying to survive with guns and enemy soilders (CPU) and u could add check points cuz well i died once and i had to start all over again if u want to restart u could add a restart gui in the screen.
i was thinking that u could also add some mutants or zombies or something like that (ik u said no zombies but it could b cool) while u survive to make it harder u could add planes and veichles to make everything easyer and the character just wants one thing revenge.

You could have 30 seconds before the nuclear detonation to search a house for supplies and somewhere to hide, if you fail to find somewhere to hide then you fail immediately, if you don't find enough supplies you'll need to wait to venture outside to look for things.
Afterwards, have it so that if you're outside for too long you'll die from Gamma radiation, but you can find clothing and better safety (a bunker designed for nuclear impact), you could look for other people and trade or kill.

it would be cool like in a mile there is radation and if yo drink it theres a 90% of you dieing and 10% of you living if you live you got like get a super power or maybe become sick and and die of sickness also add houses with pepople to kill or trade with if you kill somone you get wanted and so the people thats live in the town runs away from you and the police attacks you[everytime they see you] also make a time machine and if you use it theres a 80% you will go to back to the past or furture and 20% of you going a year ago and if it works you would take your self and move to a new country/town to live i hope you like this idea |
