Well, if we're talking about stereotypes, then you could claim that the Boston Celtics are stereotyping the Irish.
I think it's just safer to not name your team after any nationality or ethnicity.

Well, ok I see that.
People are getting mad about the Redskins logo, while the blackhawks logo isn't that far different. The blackhawks is more cartoonish, but the Redskins is more realistic. Not a big difference though. |

I think team names should be something that has to do with the area of the team.
For instance, The Carolina Panthers. There isn't any panthers in Carolina. |

I'm not necessarily talking about racism, more just nationalities and ethnicitys in general. Everybody today is so worried about being politically correct, so there will be some teams switching it up just to be safe.
I don't think they should, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did. |

-Founders of professional sports teams name their organizations after RESPECTABLE things such as Patriots, Bears, Lions, Eagles, Tigers, or Angels. Thus, Native Americans should be proud of having a team named after them.
