CORRUPTION NEWS:
Demon Altars have now re-appeared after the resurrection of the Corruption and it's master (ME). You may now craft items out of the Demonite Ores found in the chasms of the Corruption. In related news, killing an Eater of Worlds will drop 50 Shadow scales, you can also use them to craft stuff with the Demonite Ores you dropped.
