Really, it's getting annoying how many times I get necrobumped. (Bumping old threads flaring up long dead flame-wars) Just today, I got necrobumped and some dingus started a huge flame war with me regarding a thread I made TEN MONTHS AGO. I actually have got ones from 2010, 2011, and 2012 all with the same problems. We can lock our threads before we post them, and chose to scrap a thread that wouldn't work well before-hand, but I'd be far happier if we could do this after the thread has been posted, aswell. It could also help for people who accidentally posted a thread with a ton of typos and they don't want to be embarassed, but it'd be much better for getting rid of flame-wars. It WOULD: *Let you get rid of threads that you created It would NOT: *Let you delete threads by other users *Let you delete threads by other users that you have participated in

Thank you very much, I'd really enjoy this feature. In case I accidentally don't remember to bump this, I am tracking it.

There should be a 24 hour (or so) countdown before you're allowed to lock/delete threads. To stop the system being abused as people could post up flame bait and then delete it as they please without being able to be reported etc. But besides that, support. -Do not summon me again!-

Support, but I agree with R3ge completely. (Whilst I know this isn't the idea at hand: This idea shouldn't branch out into allowing users to delete their replies within another person's thread and editing replies/threads)

Support, though the thread should be open for the next 24 hours before it gets deleted, so people can get reported for being inappropriate.

I agree with rage. Whoever said "+ bumping is illegal" you're absolutely wrong. We're allowed to bump, heck, "bump" is the universal way to get your post recognized after it's been pushed off the forums, it'd be weird to never see a bump, and it's extremely, EXTREMELY rare for a mod to ban you for saying "bump." I don't even think they're allowed to do that. "Support, though the thread should be open for the next 24 hours before it gets deleted, so people can get reported for being inappropriate." Now, that is a really great idea!

"There should be a 24 hour (or so) countdown before you're allowed to lock/delete threads. To stop the system being abused as people could post up flame bait and then delete it as they please without being able to be reported etc." Great idea! @Data, in the 2nd part of your reply, around the end, I hope it doesn't branch out of that, when I posted the original post, I tried to avoid use of that by posting that I would not support that.

"Bumping is illegal" No. It's against the rules, not illegal. Illegal is something that isn't legal - basically, against the law. So don't call it illegal, call it against the rules.

Bumping isn't even against the rules. Bump is the universal way to make a post noticed after its been pushed off by other threads.
