I am making a open-source game engine that I will use in most of my games. It will be inspired by the elements of the Quake game engine. It is called "Soapbox Engine". The graphical rendering of the items in sight will not have as much detail though because of its renderer's age. It will use shrunk bricks to give more detail but not maxing out a computer. Fog rendering is not available in this iteration as a result of missing and buggy code. The SDK for it and game framework is not available because of it being not finished. The game engine will be introduced in Half Life for ROBLOX. |

The moment you make a custom three-dimensional renderer within a game engine, call me. |

The moment you make a legitimate game engine in a legitimate game engine, sob for your wasted time. |

Show me this!
I am feeling slightly sad (I have to design buttons for a GUI D:) and I could do with something to laugh at. |

I'd say a 2D game engine is enough. Why is it called soapbox?!? |

"Why is it called Soapbox?" Because kidlets these days mimic trends that occur in the independent echelon of the game industry, namely branding your studio in the first place (instead of just using your real name, for example), and using a particular construction of "adjective + noun". Just take a sample of game developers from assorted platforms:
"True Axis"
"Crescent Moon"
"Team Meat"
"2D Boy"
"Twisted Pixel"
etc ... (to name a few)
"Soapbox" is obviously just a concatenation of "Soap" and "Box", where "Soap" is describing the functionality of a particular box, but put together this is less obvious.
This naming convention is unbelievable common amongst young folk, most often it has little to do with anything more than a couple of words plucked out of the air. |

Yes, @200AB? "duck" isn't an adjective, it's a noun. Even if it were, this is the online nickname that I've used for 7 years, which is well before it become popular silent convention in development society, it wasn't a trend then (that I'm aware of, at least, I would've been too young to notice it anyway).
It's not just "two words" used in conjunction, "adjective + noun" (that I've noticed) is the most common. "Noun + Noun" isn't the same thing, but I take your point "soap" and "box" are only "adjective + noun" when you use them together, because soap and box are standalone words. ;) |

To address all this bullying that you put me through, the game engine is actually called Deathly Eight. That was the CODENAME you oversized headcrabs. |

When you make a game engine in a game engine, its usually called a framework ._. |
