Are you using wireless? I just tracked this down to faulty code that only cares about ethernet adapters, and not wireless (and then not bothering to check if it found any). So if you've got only a wireless adapter enabled, it'll crash. It's possible this isn't the only problem people are experiencing, but it was, at least, mine. Until they fix this bug, you need to workaround it. If you can plug an ethernet/network cable in , you probably have an ethernet adapter installed, but it's probably disabled (since it's not used). In which case, depending on your operating system (Windows 7, here): > Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet > View network status and tasks > Change adapter settings If you have a greyed out icon there, right-click on it and press "Enable". If you don't, there's a bunch of ways you can add in an adapter there for it to use (for the time being, anyway). Off the top of my head, you could install "LogMeIn Hamachi". Note that you DO NOT need an account, and you don't really need to do anything with it. Just install it, and it'll install an adapter which Roblox will see and workaround the crash. Or you could just wait until they fix it. ;) Here's hoping we encountered the same problem. Good luck!

Wish I could edit this, but I just realised Hamachi won't workaround it (it installs a slightly different adapter, which is also ignored). Don't bother installing it. Please disregard it. What *will* though is the Microsoft Loopback Adapter. From this post: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/259c7ef2-3770-4212-8fca-c58936979851/how-to-install-microsoft-loopback-adapter --- quote --- I found the, or a, solution: The key step I was missing was how to find the Hardware Wizard: Click the Start menu. Search for “cmd". Right-click on “cmd” and select “Run as Administrator” Enter “hdwwiz.exe” From that point on it's the same approach as under Vista, i.e.: In the "Welcome to the Add Hardware Wizard", click Next. Select "Install the hardware that I manually select from a list (Advanced)" and click Next. Scroll down and select "Network adapters" and click Next. Select under Manufacturer "Microsoft" and then under Network Adapter "Microsoft Loopback Adapter" and click Next. I've tested this and it's working for me (connecting the host to a VPC using the loopback adapter). Proposed as answer by Frop Saturday, January 24, 2009 1:56 PM --- quote ---

That's fine -- it doesn't need to be connected, just start up Roblox. :-)

@alan0987654321: Unfortunately, the installer won't run either. Until they fix their code (to *not* ignore wireless adapters on Windows Vista or newer systems), the issue needs to be worked around. Installing the Microsoft loopback adapter (if you haven't already got an ethernet adapter sitting there disabled [usually named something like "Location connection #"]) as I described above should do the trick.

@penny2199: What did you install? If you're referring to Roblox, try the suggestion in my 2nd post. If you're referring to Hamachi, as I said in the post immediately afterwards, this actually won't work (was the first thing that popped into my head, I apologise -- should have double checked that before posting). If you're referring the Microsoft loopback adapter, what exactly did you do? It won't conflict with anything, and the instructions *should* be fairly straightforward, but if you need any clarification please ask! :)
