[][][]Welcome[][][] [][][]Table Of Contents[][][] (1) Introduction (2) Welcome to Hade's Outpost! (3) Monsters (4) Rules (5) Character Creation [][][]Introduction[][][] "Hey, are you ready?" a man asks you in a Scottish accent. The man sitting next to you looks at you, waiting for you to answer his question. "The name's Ted, by the way," the man tells you,"Trust me, you are about to help make history." Heh, he said 'help'. Not make history, but 'help' make history. Mission control helped with the lunar landing, but none of them were really recognized. "Listen, we weren't sent here for no reason," Ted says,"The lab geeks say they've actually found life on this planet! Now, we're not talking about the ants we found on Mars centuries ago, We're talking about a full on predator-eats-prey-eats-plants setup." You look out the ballistics-proof window at the planet. It seemed oddly dry and lifeless. "Oh, don't worry, there's life down there." So, this is what you have been traveling through space nearly 4 years to see. As you stare at it, the Immediate thought going through your mind is: This better be worth it. "Ummm, guys..." A nervous voice asks shakily via the intercom, "We have a problem." You, along with the rest of the crew, rush to the cockpit. The first thing you notice: the space shuttle got caught in the gravity of the planet. The second: Your spaceship's fuel is at three percent. "Deploy the parachute, and be ready to set off the retro rockets!" You say immediately, remembering your training. "Damnit, this isn't a Soyuz capsule! You can't just do tha-" "Do you have a better idea, pilot?" Ted says. "I... No, Ted," the pilot says. You then realize: Wait, the planet's dry, but we're supposed to land in water to avoid exploding to itty bitty pieces. Oh Boy. [][][]Two Hours Later[][][] You wake up in a shelter made from what seems to be the sheets on the beds from the ship, with Ted standing over you with a poorly bandaged arm, not wearing any breathing gear. "Yeh lucky bastard. Not even half the crew made it our of there alive, and much less made out as good as you." Ted tells you,"I seems like the lab geeks were wrong. This place is just extreme desert all over." You are about to take off your oxygen gear, but Ted stops you. "There's air on this planet, but the oxygen percentage seems to be higher. taking in oxygen this pure will make you dose a bit, gives you a sort of high. However, you can't do that right now, 'cause you're on salvage duty." Ted helps you up and out of the tent, and begins to direct you to the ship wreckage, but then stops for a moment. He is looking at something. Something in the distance. "Stop." The distant object that you now see seems to be coming closer. And closer. "They were right." The object is now clearly distinguishable as a large slimy slug-bodied creature with a... Mouth? Yes, a mouth with multiple rows of teeth, and a strange tongue that seems a little too cliche in its shape to be an alien tongue. "Please tell me this is just the oxygen kicking in," Ted asks. You tell him otherwise, and he responds, "Then we better make a break for the shuttle." You both run rapidly, knowing full well a single-footed organism can't outrun you, especially if your going full speed. He doesn't seem to be speeding up, which you think of as good news. After about 2 minutes, you reach the shuttle, and look back at the creature. It is far behind you, but still advancing. "Screw searching," Ted says, "Just find a place where you wont wind up dead!" [][][]Welcome to Hade's Outpost![][][] Congratulations, genius astronaut! You've managed to get your entire crew stranded on a desert planet by thinking you can handle a shuttle like you can handle a Soyuz! Hurray! Eh, I kid you, you did what you had to, even if you did do it really bad. Anyway, Welcome to Hade's Outpost, the exact opposite of where you want to be right now, with the exception of air. Honestly, There could really be no deader planet with life, in your opinion. You're probably confused beyond all logic. Well, let me explain: The year is 2376, and you are living in the middle period of the Age of Interstellar Exploration. Obviously, at this point, Earth is obviously crowded, which has brought up a lot of organizations to look for space to displace people. You are from one such organization called THASFANEA, or The Hunt And Search For A New Earth Association. You worked in programming simulations for a while, and, after 4 years of programming, 4 years of 'Space School', as all your buddies called it, But it was really called the Interstellar Travel Training Academy, and 4 years of traveling through space in a crowded shuttle packed with 10 million pounds of fuel, You have arrived to the location of your first mission. Unfortunately, the location of your first mission is more hostile than Russian Dictators and Australia combined. Really, all you're doing is sitting on a rock, waiting for someone to program a distress signal, and even then, you have to wait 4 years for them to show, 2 years if they launch from the nearest space station. But this 'rock' is much more than a rock. Like 'the lab geeks' said, It has life like you'd see on Earth. But, upon your arrival, this prediction was proved only half right. This is literally every child's nightmare put into one scorching 120 degree (Fahrenheit) planet. It is filled with dangerous creatures that kill one another as well as foreign creatures such as yourself. Well, at least I should give you a chance by giving you a heads up on what's to come. A day on this planet is about 3-4 pages, depending on my generosity. Every day, there will be a wave of enemies, which will get increasingly hard to fight off. But don't worry, there will be crafting, so you can make better stuff. The way the combat system works is a Logic + Dice = Outcome system. If you are unreasonable and say "lol i r instakill monsturh" when you don't even know where its heart is, or if it even has a heart. Did I mention you will be swallowed by said monster if your grammar is as bad as that? I guess that's a 'lol' for me. When attacking a monster I, THE GAME MASTER, will roll initiative for everything with a 20-sided die, Including the attacking monsters. Some players might have an Initiative boost, which will increase their initiative number. The way this will work is that he highest number goes first, then the next highest, then the next highest, and so on and so forth, until we reach the lowest number, which then will have it loop back to the largest number. Each turn, you will either attack or pass. If you attack, then I will roll the D20 again to see if you miss terribly (fail so bad it has an effect on you), miss (do no damage this turn), hit (do regular damage), or critically hit (do damage roll times the crit multiplier). If you get 1, you will miss terribly and it will have some effect depending on the weapon. For example, you might hit yourself with a sword, while a lasergun might knock you on your back for a turn. If you roll a number less than the designated miss number for a monster, you just miss, and nothing interesting happens. However, if you match or roll higher than that number, you will hit the monster. To find damage, I will roll the designated die/dice for your weapon. The amount rolled + any bonuses the weapon may have = Damage. Now, if you roll a natural 20, This is where the fun begins. You will get a critical hit, which is the rolled number times the crit modifier. Since each monster has a certain amount of health, the will eventually die if attacked enough. You will gain Experience, and possibly hunting goods, if dice are in your favor. Some days might be sandstorm days, which will be decided by the 4 sided die. On these days, Monsters will show up like any normal day, but YOUR power will be slightly decreased. You may temporarily lose bonuses, such as initiative, and do less damage. Oh, one more thing. Every day, after the wave, you have to go out and hunt for food. Yeah, It's that rough. So, that's the planet in a nutshell. Now, Onto other stuff. [][][]Monsters[][][] Heres the best part: You don't know any monsters until you've killed at least one of the type! [][][]Rules[][][] 1. Death is forever. Unless, of course, you develop the Revival Bay within the 3 days after your buddy's death. Any revived players will be notified. 2. Crafting is Fairly basic, just get random guff, and I'll tell you what you can make. 3. No Powergaming. (In Robloxian speak, no godmodding.) 4. No Metagaming. (In English, you can't use OOC information in the roleplay world.) 5. To prevent Romance, the entire ship was a dude ranch. Exceptions may be possible. 6. Do not argue with me. What I say goes. 7. Do not argue with the dice. What they say goes. 8. No full-on hating my thread, but constructive criticism would be nice. 9. You can starve, be eaten, even be crushed by a monster. But that will happen to most of you. The only thing you can really do is not be butthurt. 10. I say what happens, not you. 11. More to come. [][][]Character Creation[][][] Character Creation is simple: After filling out the following form, I will roll 5 numbers and give you 5 stats to put those numbers in. If you want, you can have a maximum of two rerolls. Remove all parentheses. Name: Age: (No younger than 30, because the minimum age to join THASFANE is 18, and you had 4 years of programming work, 4 years of space training, and had to travel for 4 years. No older than 40.) Gender: Hair color: Eye color: Skin tone: Hair style: Facial Hair?: (If so, describe) Height: Weight: Build: Specialty: (will give a 1 point stat boost to one of your stats.) Personality: (Don't be a dandy, happy person. travelling 4 years to your demise wouldn't make anyone cheery.) Biography: (What is your past?) Family: (Can be other players if they agree to it.) The stats you will put numbers into are: Strength: Ability to wield melee. Dexterity: Ability to wield ranged. Constitution: "How are you holding up?" Mechanical Intelligence: Ability to Engineer things, like turrets and laser tech. General Intelligence: Ability to design basic things, like weapons and armor.
