A few weeks ago, a player hired me to make some Star Wars star fighters for him. After repairing the rusted out script system I used to use before I left ROBLOX, I realized that the fighters were ridiculously fun to fly and began to think of game ideas that could use them. I soon realized that the most interesting way to use them would be to try and recreate the space battles from Star Wars: Battlefront II. I'm now close to finishing a couple of the most drastic improvements that will make BF: Space ready to be played, and figured this would be a good time to open up a forum for suggestions, seeing as I've already had a few players beg for certain features. Things not to suggest: -admin powers -force powers -a storyline following any movie or tv show

Oh that reminds me that I forgot to mention the things I'm currently working towards: -A clean, all-inclusive point tracking system -Automatic turrets (which will be destroyable) -Player controlled turrets (controlled from current spawn rooms, also destroyable) -Automatic morphs for players -Improved blasters -Connecting multiple places to include game-modes such as TDM, destroy the ships, and a tutorial.

I've had to work on auto turrets before the frigates, but yes, there will be 1-2 support frigates per team soon. For now, hard points will only be destructible from outside so I can focus on the flying related parts. However indoor combat and destruction certainly isn't out of the picture when I finish the main stuff.

UPDATE: -I've worked out the camera bugs related to dying midflight, but if you still have an issue, the fix camera button now works flawlessly. -You don't have to worry about the invisible teleport pad unwantedly sending you into the game anymore. It's been replaced by a sleek GUI interface. -You can now seamlessly teleport back to the lobby using the new button beneath Fix Camera. -I've overheard a few complaints about knowing how to fly the fighters. Once I wrap up a bit more on the Dogfight mode, I'll begin work on the Tutorial, so rest assured that it will come soon.

Although Battlefront I/II based, why not have some extra factions later. Possily add another game mode called extra where you have, I dunno, death watch vs republic or Empire vs CIS. (Or Empire vs Republic, ETC). Just a suggestion though.

Hm, that's a good idea. I chose clones/CIS simply because that's what I already had on hand, other eras would include many more players. [QUICK UPDATE] I'm halting developement of BF: Space until 1k total plays is broken so I can focus on exams during this last week. Once that number is broken and I reach a finishing point on the important detail I'm working on presently, I'll upload it in two large updates that should drastically improve the feel of the whole game.

The LAAT will come when I've built the matching ship for the CIS and decide on how it should function exactly. I would like for it to be a mobile spawn point but have quite a few features to smooth out before trying something like that. Next in line for ships so far will be adding copilot options for some. The idea of cooperative flying has fascinated me for a while now, and I'd love to work it into the game.

[UPDATES] - Finished designing the homing rockets. you can now press Q when aiming at a player to target them and then Right-Click at any time to fire rockets. - Decreased the game's Score limit. A round now lasts 10 kills rather than 20 to speed up the pace. - Minor improvements to the Venator model - the E key can now be solely used to enter AND exit fighters. Avoid jumping out of or sitting down in the seats manually, especially on the Vulture Droids. [UP AND COMING] - Targeting fighters should be easier than it is. - Disable jumping while seated in a fighter. - Disable sitting down manually in a fighter. - Tweak rockets to be more accurate. - Co-pilots?

Possible game mode idea could be a "King of the hill" where both teams fight over control of a space station... I'll post better ideas once I get off the mobile.

That's a great idea. I've started building a new cruiser class ship that both teams will have to land on and take control of, a sort of damaged cargo vessel. Thanks. [UPDATES] - Updated the CIS bomber model to include actual details. - Changed the respawn menu to overview the map rather than show a claustrophobic image. - FtP now has ambient music, both for the respawn menu and while in combat.

[UPDATE LOG] - With FtP mode finished, I am focusing all work on the new Cruiser Capture mode based on GuestCapone's suggestion. - NPC fighters that circle the cruiser until enemy players are in range - Healing droids stationed in each hanger - Auto-turrets - Support vessels that repair any friendly fighters in range.

I really do love the ideas you have in place here. I suggest adding a ground-based battle aswell; the space battles, once a side wins, that side would be able to assist ground-based battles, and would be able to bomb the enemy opponent, etc.

Unfortunately, that's outside of the scope of this game, although that idea could be used for a planned Group War mode, where Groups that have registered with me can use the mode to organize a fair war with an opposing Group. I could see teleporting all the players to the losing side's ground map, HQ, etc. for a second chance round. [UPDATES] - Jumping has been disabled - E is now the only way to enter/exit vehicles and should work flawlessly - The central damaged ship now has a Control Point in the middle. A team must have sole control of that point for 5 seconds before getting points. Then that team will start earning 1 point every 2 seconds until either they win or the CP is contested. - Buffed the amount of damage on the Bomber class slightly. - Music glitch after respawning has been fixed [UP AND COMING] - CP system needs to be tested and perfected - Certain bugs related to the fighters still need to be solved.

The camera could use some work, it is prone to gimbal lock and it doesn't provide consistent turning at certain angles

Some things you gotta fix: -The camera messup, when you get into a turret, and try to get out, it makes you stuck in space. -The Leaderboard on the top. Where it says: REPUBLIC: CIS: 0 0 You can click on the name and change it, which messes up the server. Some cool updates that COULD happen: -Explosion animation when you destroy a ship. -Get rid of the Q/E thing on the bottom left. E is to get in and out of the ship, so it confuses me. -When you press V you could like change your view, from 3rd person to 1st person. -In the main menu screen, make an "Options" thing, where you can adjust your music volume for the game, adjust the sound effects, etc. -Make a LVLing system, which would have skill points. -In the main menu screen, also make a "Barracks" thing, where you can check your level, upgrade your character with Skill Points, there could be stuff you could upgrade with skill points like "Reload Speed", "Character Speed", "Health", "Weapon Damage", Etc. -Use the Game Universes so you can make it so when you join a server, it will find you a server (Or set up a server) and then you will join it, but you must wait 1 minute (If it's a brand new server) to load, and in that 1 minute, it would have a leaderboard thing for you to look at, like it would have players on it, and it would show their levels and their names. Like this: -------------------------------------------- [LVL 1] Blaster5647 [LVL 7] Test [LVL 3] Test -------------------------------------------- And when a person joins it would get bigger, and the blank spots that have no players in them would be: -------------------------------------------- [UNKNOWN] -------------------------------------------- Soo.. Thanks for the list. You'll see the leaderboard fixed shortly. I think for the waiting lobby, you should wait and see the next game mode I'm working on. Since it'll be involving groups, it will have a waiting lobby to balance the teams at the start.

Fix Cam button is still in place for possible exceptions. - Leaderboard is no longer editable. - Bug preventing Player Points has been fixed. - Rockets now work as they should. (Changes must still be made and not all the fighters have been updated yet.) - Fighter GUI is more streamlined and doesn't have wrong info about the buttons. ≡⁞[ FEATURES ADDED ]⁞≡ - Fighter and Turret cannons have been modified to use Ray Casting instead of unreliable flying parts. - Rockets now lock on and detonate after reaching a certain distance from their target. - Lobby size has been cut down to reduce lag. - A "Credits" window has been added to the Lobby, listing all contributors and what they made that was used in making the game. - initial steps for a Mobile Device version of the game have been taken. - Players may choose to buy one of three cheap buffs at the beginning of each round. Buffs last only for that round, and will NOT be saved if the player leaves. - Engine boosting is now limited, no more infinite speed!
