i'm an IT graduate, 9 months @ IT Tech, PA. So I know quite a bit about comps...and a gaming pc is junk. they're made only for running the high specs of games but neglect the basic functions of the computer. mediocre RAM and a bad video card isn't worth the struggles. Alienware is Dell, and it's just recycled computer parts; they're not new is what I'm implying. It's cheaper and better to buy and build your own overall computer, which with good storage files, cooling, and processing, can be its own gaming PC without high-end pricing or negligence. Try newegg

"better to buy and build your own " hah. no. i'd spare myself some compatibility issue headaches. we're also looking for a smaller tower. custom built ones are usually pretty big. pls

"can laptops be custom built" Not really, no. You might be able to get your hands on the parts, but drivers for the specialized laptop parts are going to be really hard to find. @OP, Even so, build it yourself. It's worth it, trust me. Also, basically any part you buy is going to work with any other part you buy, so compatibility isn't really an issue. And you can get some pretty small cases if you don't want it to be too big.

Much better to build. Cheaper, and you'll get everything you want. Compatibility issues only happen if you don't do any research and you're stupid.
