Idea obviously from the game Darkness. The books called Darkness and as you know, there are people who eventually over time discover that there is a shadow figure with a scythe going to kill them all. I plan there near the end of the story to be the following realization. "We cannot kill what does not live, but we can banish it." - Unknown Therefore they will banish the shadow using light.
