As many have noticed, player points are fundamentally flawed in the fact that as a userbase, in general use ROBLOXians aren't mature enough to not cheat and monopolize everything given to us. So here is how I believe player points can be fixed.
First of all, when considering this kind of tricky feature, we need to consult the experts, Xbox live gamesscore and achievements. Now, what are the correlation between the 'gamerscore' and 'achievements' and what end result do they give the user?

Yes. The gamerscore is linked directly to the achievement. Generally the better/well funded the game is, the more points they can splash out. Although generally the score awarded is directly linked to the difficulty, usually a very easy award is given at the start of the game worth more points than you'd expect. If you haven't reached the point of what I'm getting at, allow me to elaborate.
I believe what needs to be done is either an overhaul of he badge system or a new badge-like system much like Xbox achievements and PS3 Trophies. Where the quality of the award is decided by how much we're willing to pay for it. This way it is non-abusable, because the player can't simply buy it in bulk, and we don't generate thousands for doing nothing.
If we want a certain award in our game, we pay for it to award more points. A badge costs 100 robux, let's assume for a moment you decide to chose the former suggestion and overhaul the badge system. When a badge is bought, that badge has a gamescore value of 5. You could increase that value depending on how much we are willing to put into that badge, as developers. Perhaps capping it. I know, it is still very possibly to use the AwardBadge inbuild function to give players a load of badges worth points after they click a GUI, but this is more obscure and less abusable in general, and I'm sure you smart cookies could sort that out. But as things are now, Player points are pretty much designed to be abused to the point that the top 5,000 people on the leaderboard bought it.
I would also suggest you lower taxes from 30% to 10-20% and make the price for these awards fairly high, meaning we have more room to spend money on these awards, as I doubt you could check all of our games and make sure each award isn't just given to us. Sure, this seems biased towards developers who make a lot of ROBUX, and yes. It is. Because to be frank, 3rd rate developers who are riding to the frontpage by dishing out thousands of player points they got by selling scammish items don't really deserve to use this kind of feature, when something so simple and easy to do is given in bulk to people who don't know how to make games, this is what happens. So if you give us other Devs some extra room to pay with, we can actually turn this feature around to make ROBLOX better and turn ROBLOX into a community similar to Microsoft and Sony, where players can brag about achievements to their friends.
Now, before you start judging this, here's a disclaimer: I've done game design courses, not business management courses or anything relating to economy (Aside from my 9 years of experiencing on RS) But please give this a thought. I don't claim to know all the answers, but I can see the horizon. |

Couldn't have been said any better. I completely agree with your entire idea I think it would make it be more balanced and not whoever has the most robux to buy the most points etc. The idea of changing the system to be similar to that of the PS3's Trophies and stuff would definitely work out the kinks in the system. Thanks guys, I truly believe this needs to be a thing, I mean right now this guy is earning a tonne of money just by giving max player points per ROBUX for free, literally all you need to do that is add a developer product and give award 100 points once they do... Once again, I'm not hating on ROBLOX for this, nobody could have predicted ROBLOX users to monopolize games entirely centric to player points

It makes sense because Badges have almost no value atm, unless someone has A TON or a really hard or challenging badge. This would make badges more useful. |
