In the 14 Century, they found a easier trade route by sea to India. Amerigo Vespuchi? Or someone else? So I wonder BEFORE that sea path... Ground merchants are extremly slow... but maybe it was them.

Yes most likely camel merchants that frequented the middle east in the area of modern day Isreal, and the Europeans knew about that area so they would have traded with them.
