I've now learned that: Even with their players being far superior than the players of smaller teams (like Iran and US), Most African nations still perform crap. I'm only expecting Ivory Coast to get out of their group. Cameroon and Nigeria have great, experienced players, but they don't perform well as a team.

The tactics and attitude comes from that. FOR EXAMPLE: Iran has a starting backline that plays entirely in the Iran Pro League (Beitashour may play one game off the bench, and he's in MLS) and the manager is Carlos Queiroz, who is a defensive-minded conservative disciplined coach. Any chance Iran gets has to come off a set piece resulting from a counter-attack or the actual counter-attack itself. While Nigeria may have Obi Wan Kenobi that plays for Mourinho at Chelsea as well as other great, experienced players, they didn't show up like they could break apart Iran's defense, except for once in the 6th minute, and twice between the 89th and 91st minutes. Other than that they played like crap and Iran dominated the game for those that actually watched it
