Also, the statement for which this thread is entitled is false. I listen to metal, Im far from depressed. Maybe Death Metal and such seems a bit... extreme to most people due to the general sort of lyrics that genre contains. But I listen to Thrash Metal and Speed Metal all the time. Though I do listen to Rock more. |

Metal isn't for depressed people. Surveys have shown a majority, not all, but a majority of metal listeners are introverted and are gentle. Most metal just contains a deep meaning on the subject of dealing with loss. Most also discusses inner conflict. People mistake it as them being depressed or relaying 'teen angst'. I think its mostly misunderstood in that aspect. On the other hand, they think rock in general is the devils music. But, I guess they haven't seen Switchfoot, Kutless, P.O.D and Skillet. |

Now what the threads question has become is whether or not metalcore and nu metal is metal. Nu metal isn't metal. No matte how hard u try it's just harder heavier alt rock mixed with hip hop and pop. And metalcore really depends on the band. There are definitely a lot f metalcore bands who are more punk than metal, but there are still metalcore bands who incorporate more metal than punk, so those are the metalbands. Regardless I love both the more punkish and more metal-ish metalcore bands |
