The Blackhawks attendance went up also because Bill Wirtz died and he was a terrible owner. He didnt allow any home games to be televised unless they were picked up by national broadcasters, which only happened when the Blackhawks made the playoffs. His explanation was that putting the games on national tv would be unfair to season ticket holders

Oh and Rocky Wirtz got the Blackhawks on local television in 2007-08 which is when we started to get the attendance up even though we didnt make the playoffs till 2009
