Do you guys have any suggestions for getting your fingers to switch faster between chords? qq I know that kind of stuff doesn't just like happen overnight (and I'm a trumpet player, not a guitarist so there's that) and it takes a lot of practice but if you guys have like any mind-blowing secret tricks... <:T the G to C switch is my enemy right now

it just comes with being used to the fingering but, im guessing you dont know much about how many different ways there are t oform a certain chord? if you go on a chord listing on ultimate guitar, hover over the chord and click "variations", it will show you all the different ways to make the chord so with g, instead of doing the 3-2-0-0-0-3 chord, you can do a bar on the 3rd fret and simply make a triad in the position it tells you with your remaining fingers then with c, find something similar with a bar as the base, so that instead of switching all finger positions, you can basically just lift your bar finger and glide to the next position; or, if the song calls for it, slide on the strings

I know it sounds, cliche, but seriously... Just a lot of practice and patience.

Well it's gonna take a while, its kinda the same for bassists, it took my friend dylan like a few weeks to learn half of orions bassline after he'd been playing for 9 months so its gonna take a while to master a song in one day, stick at it I'm sure you'll get there

Use 2 hands and use your feet to strum.

Could you play anything by pantera or iron maiden?

#141783069Monday, July 28, 2014 12:55 AM GMT

I could play The Number of The Beast by Iron Maiden but acoustic version. My mom says I have to learn acoustic before Bass & Electric ;-;

lol why do what your mother says? also the bass is a completely different instrument, rather than strumming you pluck and it mostly puts out a lower end sound as well as it having a longer neck. and your mother is stupid and should let you learn how to play the electric guitar if you want to.

Idk what her intentions are but i dont really care. I have to take guitar classes in jr high so I will be able to play by high school.

Teaching yourself is the best way, it allows you to develop your own unique playing style. At least that's what me and my friend believe

@zok i disagree mac demarco's mom paid for him to take lessons for a few years from what i've heard and he has an undeniably unique style

Depending on the person. I honestly think if I was to take up guitar I'd probably try to teach myself, Dave Mustaine taught himself how to play. Probably one of the greatest shredders alive today even if he does mess up live sometimes

dave mustaine looks so stupid like lol

he plays like basically any other metal guitarist shredder though it'd be pretty hard to find a guitarist that consistently makes the sounds mac does

not all shredders shred the same https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iaAkWy55V3A

i think you're proving my point lol he played the solos back to back and it sounded like one combined solo, the only difference was the rhythm

But the play style of each guitarist is different they all shred differently, some pick like van halen, others use wammy bars like Dimebag.
