Change every material to another

On edit mode there should be an option where lets say that some of your place has wood blocks and others have Ice blocks. You should be able to just switch ALL wood blocks for slate blocks or anything else

I do i mean like if you want to change all the bricks to lets say slate, then you first have to make sure that all the bricks are the same material

No, you actually dont. I've done it with diamondplate, ice, and wood, and turned it into concrete.

Select all the bricks with Shift+click, then go in properties, then go to material, and choose the material.
