The body on the ground seemed to vanish with a puff of black mist. It quickly darted off as the others gave chase. It led them through a forest, and over a traul of dead grass. Eventually, after hours of running, falling, and generally getting nowhere, they were lead to a gaping hole in the side of a mountain, where the mist finally vanished. More noise could be heard inside.
Savage, hotheaded as usual, charged in with his weapon ready, swinging widly down the tunnel and demolishing some stalagmites in the process. Quazino sighed and nodded to Kaizo, as then dashed in after him. Savage gasped, and ran over to Zeryle, who was on the ground in a small puddle of blood. He kneeled down to her and turned over her head. Good, she was still breathing, but quite heavily. She cracked open her eyelids, revealing wet pupils. The others caught up with him and looked around the room. "Dang, check out all these mirrors..." Quazino said, sounding intrigued. Zeryle tried to run her words together. "Y-You need to go, and hurry..." Savage looked at her, a small open frown on his face. "We're not going to leave you behind." He signaled the others over, and they lifted her up. They were almost to the hall when their luck ran out. The ground rumbled with unnatural force, casing them to drop Zeryle. She wasn't concerned with her own injuries yet.
The ceiling began to fragment above them dropping rubble across the room. Stones bounced miraculously off the mirrors, but the exit was blocked off. Oh, goody. Kaizo kicked at the stones. "Dammit! What now?" He shouted. Quazino nearly opened his mouth when the mirrors started to glow and give off an eerie sound. Another of the black figures came out. It was Quazino. He held the same staff, same clothing, same appearance in every way. The same happened for Kaizo and Savage. Zeryle raised her hand spoke with a hoarse voice.
"I-I told you..."
The three *clones* circled them, forcing them back into the center of the room with slashes from their respective weapons. Savage tried to hit his doppelganger but was parried back. Zeryle lied at the other side of the room, hurt and helpless. The group was tired and pinned, and it seemed over.
But then things took a turn for the better. A line vine seemed to creep through the rubble. It began to blossom at the end. Out of the huge bulb emerged a person standing backwards. The vine crippled and turned into dust. The lone figure stood. Their face could not be seem from behind the green hood they wore. It slowly turned around. The *figure* was actually
Cheyenee!?
She made no time for introductions. A rose emerged from her hand and it blossomed into a thorny wooden pole with a large vine of red petals running down it. She leaped into the air and came down ever so gently onto the cold stone floor. Acting on instinct rather than planning, she batted Quazino's twin back across the room. Hidden under her elegant movements was a brutal amount of force. It seemed astonishing, but that was the least of anyone's concerns. She slammed all three of the doppelgangers to to the walls, shattering some mirrors. Of course, the magic demon clones can break it but not a big rock. The others leaped in, fueled by new enthusiasm to fight.
Cheyenne impaled Quazino's clone, causing him to vanish with black dust. The real Quazino fell to the floor, clutching his forehead in agony.
