Then there's nothing wrong with doing that, that's actually something good to do in my opinion. Yet, there's no reason to constantly make threads centered around your self when you can simply communicate with them via personal messaging.
While it is true that it's their fault for participating, intentionally setting up situations in which you'll get insulted so that they'll come to "rescue" you only causes unnecessary trouble and makes it seem as though you're trying to garner up attention which based on your responses, is very likely.
