I had to take a WRITTEN test in art.
WHAT IS WRITING AND MULTIPLE CHOICE SUPPOSED TO DO IN A VISUAL ARTS CLASS, A HANDS-ON CLASS THAT ALL THESE IDIOTIC "STANDARDS" CAN BE PROVEN IN BY ACTUALLY DOING WHAT THE CLASS IS ABOUT. I DID NOT SIGN UP FOR ART THEORY, I SIGNED UP FOR VISUAL ART 1! I MAKE THE ART TO SHOW I UNDERSTAND THE LESSON.

Why should I deal with this idiotic nonsense? Because you told me to, because it can't be changed? That's a load of bull right there, I shouldn't have to "deal with " this nonsense. I shouldn't be forced to go into a school and do all of this garbage. I should be learning, maybe even enjoying school, but with this common core crap going on I accomplish nothing but earning my teachers' paychecks. |

art is not just about painting a picture
art has history behind it
art has famous people connected to it
here, technology is not about computers
it is about building, creating, constructing
many people hate said class because they don't like how it's not 100% computers, or when we go on the computers, we're not playing games
complete the work
you can go do games
no one reads the electives
if you can't read what the class you picked is about don't sign up |

While I do agree that deal with it is not a good response you are not "just earning teacher paychecks" as you say. Writing is useful in all circumstances in school. And you realize Common Core mostly just rolled back grade level a bit which does not really matter in art right? |

My school also offers art history classes, I did not sign up for that. We aren't even learning about that anyways.
And in regards to reading the electives, I read mine, I'll even quote it since I have the elective sheet with me:
"Visual Art 1: In this class students will learn about visual arts through drawing and painting" |

No, it wasn't even writing, it was multiple choice and fill in the blank. And common core sets these "standards" that must be met by the students, meaning it's essentially the same general concept as what state testing tries to achieve. |

We also have drawing tests. They are drawing we complete in a number of days and are given a grade weighted as a test. |
