Back when I was most active in TGI, in 2012, it is a fact that the group was overall more mature. I attribute part of this to a greater sense of honor and duty (yes, I said duty) to TGI. I'm sure some people will remember back when it was commonplace to recite the Arcadian Oath at the beginning of trainings. The oath's text was as follows: "As a soldier of Arcadia, I know my duties and what is expected of me. To defend our empire, to serve our emperor, And to put an end to all those who hinder our progress to our path to glory. We are the Empire's swords, the living armor of the Imperium. Hail Arcadia!" The trainer would state each line and have the attendants repeat it. The act of simply typing it doesn't really do anything, but what it does do is remind everyone of their responsibilities as a member of TGI. It's not all fun and games. I therefore propose that a decree be made by the High Command requiring (or at least encouraging) officers to have their trainees recite the Oath at the beginning of trainings (and perhaps rallies as well). I am interested in gauging everyone's opinion of this proposed measure, so please state your feelings about it. [ + 6k posts ]

Answer's going to be brutal here: no. Yes, as this is apart of TGI's lore, I do not believe it is needed to waste time on reciting it at the very beginning of each training. It'd be far more effective to start up with the combat activities. This oathe is supposed to fancy up things, to spice things up, it doesn't truly, factually, guides the participants in any way, or remind them of their actual duties as players. Some may disagree, but my opinion stands firmly.

@Ant: But you will agree, I'm sure, that most TGI members are at least decent at combat, while the average maturity levels are lacking these days. We shouldn't be prioritizing turning our members into mindless combat machines, we should be prioritizing the creation of people who understand their duties/responsibilities and can quickly pick up new concepts. @Fire That doesn't matter. Anyone with a basic understanding of the social sciences knows that forced repetition leads the subject to eventually begin to adopt the behavior or change their mindset. Pavlovian concepts put into action. [ + 6k posts ]

Communication and teamwork alone achieve nothing. Greater emphasis must be put on maturity, loyalty, and obedience. A great variety of things are required to create an efficient fighting body. [ + 6k posts ]

TGI is meant to be a different experience from the average clan. We're disciplined and skilled; there are plenty of other groups to choose from if you only want to have fun. So please don't pull the "it's a game" excuse here. [ + 6k posts ]

Easiest way to submit an idea is to do it privately with an higher rank, convince him and let him represent your demand... It's not a matter of skill, of course we're not going to improve considerably with only a few more minutes of practice, but rather a matter of efficiency, I hate it when the trainers takes too much time beating around the bush, it's much more enjoyable when it all runs fast. The oathe's not going to affect the level of maturity and professionalism, that's a different concept which can be dealt with incongruously...

Ant, I agree that it's annoying when trainers do useless things and take too long to actually get into training. But the key is being able to balance discipline with action, and I have a very fond memory of the days when that was done in TGI. Also, I believe that the best way to push an idea is to submit it to the public. An HR could strike it down with one word, while it is immortalized here. [ + 6k posts ]

"TGI is meant to be a different experience from the average clan. We're disciplined and skilled; there are plenty of other groups to choose from if you only want to have fun. So please don't pull the "it's a game" excuse here." Okay no. TGI was founded on the principle that we could be skilled and mature but still have fun by bypassing hardcore discipline like they have in VAK. It worked beautifully and that was when TGI was at its best, not when you joined during our horrid "hardcore discipline loyalty" binge with tober. TGI is meant to be a fun group that attracts skilled members, been in it since the day its opened so I think I would know. The mandatory oath was a joke that everyone tabbed out for, so it will not be making a return. Mk.

You've been in it since the day it opened? I joined TGI in December 2011 on my account Waggy567, so I also am aware of the early intentions of the group. Fun does not equal stupid immaturity, which is what many people seem to think it is. It's far too often that someone blatantly disrupts a training, ruining it for others, and then gets away unscathed. I am an advocate for discipline reform, and I will push this agenda as long as I am in TGI. [ + 6k posts ]

Yes, I left VAK the same day as brickster did on bubbley27, and if you were truly an original TGI you would know that fun makes the group and the community within strong and reliable. "Stupid immaturity" is just basically you saying you take the game far too seriously and need a life. Keep "pushing your agenda," it won't happen because no one gives a damn about boring VAK tactics.

No, stupid immaturity is me referring to 10 year olds who think themselves to be funny using cliches, hackneyed phrases, and overall conformist behavior. I have fun in real life, and the reason I play Roblox is to have an organized and structured environment as opposed to the chaos of reality. If I eventually attain an officer position, my "boring VAK tactics" will very much be a part of TGI. [ + 6k posts ]
