Evolution is a way for an animal to adapt to an envirment or just to get ahead of its predators.

It doesn't have to be mutation. It could be change of traits over a slow period of time or crossbreeding. Also, think about animals. Some are barely thoughtless and live for only one purpose. Others are more intelligent, and have emotions and learn. But none are quite as smart as a human, right? I doubt evolution could do that.

Yes iplay, but I was referring to natural selection.

Yes Thorae that is basically part of it, It's less of accident thou... Say a creature spends much of its time in the water, it my start to develop features that will help it with water related things. You'll probably get taught it in Grade 11ish Biology.

I know the Earth is round! Stop saying it! I made 5 post that said I used it as a metaphore!!! By the way, if it was flat, we wouldn't fall of the edge. I think that the gravity will work there as well, though weaker. Maybe God created us. Maybe we evolved. Maybe God created us with Evolution. I mean seriously,if you make a Universe and put laws in it, you need to OBEY them too. So if he made all the physics laws and the genes and so on, he NEEDS to use them. So Evolution maybe is real, made by someone else. Though I personally think that Evolution was a chance. Monkeys aren't too big, they had a big enough brain and started walking on 2 legs. And they lived in the BEST places to live. THATS why we evolved if you ask me. To evolve you need: To be medium sized. Too big animals need to eat too much and can't evolve fast. And too small have little brains. To have a big enough brain : You need it to evolve to be smart. To live in good places" Living in Sibir has low chances of Evolution :D To have arms: You need them to use tools.

Whats this religion? By the way, this is starting to get a religion thread... We should stop.

I will explain ESP, THEN stop the religon theard. ESP has a frog god, Greg, and a fox god, pete, a phesant god, fred, and a chicken god, bob. In case your wondering, its NOT a real religon. We had to be "Creative" in school at religous education. So me and my friends made this up. The teacher got angry at us, I wonder why....

The bible states that the world was created 6000 years ago. Then how come we have thousands of fossils from millions of years ago? How come we have oil? How come we have coal? My argument for the creation of the Earth. If you had 1 lottery ticket, there's a 1 in 6000000 chance you'll win. Now lets say you have infinity lottery tickets. There's a 100% chance you'll win, because you have all the numbers. The universe has an infinite number of planets as more are being created all the time. Everytime a planet is created, there's an exceedingly small chance it can support life, but if you have an infinite number of planets, at least one of them can. My argument for the creation of humans. The human body is incredibly complex, but it's really quite simple really. Anything that isn't complex enough simply dies, not reproducing and passing on its "bad" genes. The creatures who are best suited to their environment survive to reproduce and pass on their survival genes. This takes millions of years to take place, but eventually, it happens.

Yep, I agree with that---^ There are infinte planets, so there must be at least a few with life.

The bible doesn't say the Earth was created 6000 years ago. Human time is irrelevant to God. He goes by his time and any interpretation of when things happened might be different to God.

I was wrong to say in the bible directly, however many creationists still believe the earth to be created around 6000 years ago. You can check these sources which gather their infomation from the Hebrew Calender; Amazing Adventures of the Jewish People. Page IX. Living Judaism: the complete guide to Jewish belief, tradition, and practice. Page 119. The New Jewish encyclopedia. Page 91.

Um, but it been PROVED that the world is very old, dinosuars lived 65 million years ago and they seem to be real, with all the bones and evidence and the fossils.

@eevee400 inorite? There are just some people who believe differently from us.

I know, but I just find it strange that people seem to deny something that has been PROVEN... But OFF the religon now, ok?

Oh boy....evolutuion..kinda figured it would come up sooner or later. I personally believe it is NOT real. The moon gets closer to us an inch/ 1/2 of an inch every year. If you guys say that it takes billions or millions of years for evolution to happen, the moon would cause tsunamis and other gravity related natural disasters. It would be too close... We don't see that happening do we? Ending this, it has NOT been proven. Something can be proven if it is recorded to happen more than twice. It hasen't been recorded, and it hasen't happend twice. =3 Funny enough, a Greek scientist tried to see how big the world was,(he knew it was round by how boats sink into the horizion) and he came pretty close.
TheSquirrel
#14616026Friday, September 25, 2009 10:13 PM GMT

@Zen Uhh, no. You got it the wrong way round. The moon is getting further away from us by about 1.5 inches a year, not closer.

My Sci-Fi theory for why we are here... We were once part of an advanced civilization light years away and we became corrupt so our memories were wiped and we were taken to Earth. However there were dinosaurs there so they threw an asteroid at the earth killing the dinosaurs. When the destruction was over, the advanced race dropped a few humans on earth and left them to fend for themselves and here we are today. (Don't flame me, this is just for fun)
