My personal opinion (I'm on mobile so this will look really formal)
Reading about the game on wikis: mildly interesting, gives a good insight on the strategy of the game
Watching people play it: not scary at all. Funny or overreacted. Does not affect what I think about the game.
Fanbase of these people: utterly stupid. Follow above' opinions and are brick walls, seeming everything is fake and stupid.
Fanbase who has actually played the game: slightly respectable. Usually opinions are affected by the above two, but not as much.
People who don't care about the above two: more respectable. Either has never heard of the game or has played the game. The ones who have played the game have their own opinions on the game, respectable.
As a person who has played the game, I can tell you what it feels like after figuring out the above 5. Of course, you may have a separate opinion.
The gameplay is fun and terrifying. After reading wikis until there is nothing left to read, you can predict their movements and be able to do better at it. The game feels realistic, although it is purely .jpg files (or something). When you start, your confidence is high. You immediately flick on the camera and look around. Everything is fine. Then, one of them moves. You start feeling a little nervous, and hear footsteps. Then, you start to panic a little as they get louder. They're close. Your heart starts to beat really hard. You check the lights. Bam. Your body twitches as you see one for the first time outside your door. The door shuts, buying you some time. The game kind if goes like that for a while, until night 3.
Everything gets harder. Freddy starts to move, adding more suspense. Night 3 is pretty straightforward from there, except there might be some anxiety going on. Night 4 comes around. Freddy seems to get near you very quickly, much faster than night 3.
Night 4 was when I died for the first time. Everything seemed fine, nobody was at the door. Good. Check the left door, nothing. Check the camera, all good. Bam. Bonnie, in my face, as I jumped out of my chair about 2 inches, as every muscle in my body quivered and went into shock. I was scared, spooked, and felt defeated. It was the most painful but relieving feeling I have ever experienced. So, it took a while before I was spooked again. My friend challenged me to do a night 7 difficulty, specifically one where Freddy was quite active. Blah blah blah, I forgot to close the right door. I thought I was fine, Foxy was one the way, so I closed the left door. I heard short footsteps. I kind of ignored it. Bam. Freddy. It caught me off guard, so I kind of repeated the Bonnie incident.
tl;dr: game is terrifying, fans usually are filled with loaded words, video people aren't always honest, I got rekt, twice, it was super spooky. |
