(A little background info for those of you following my Darvast pilot series. Won't go too far in depth else I give away the parts to the trilogy I have in the works. Do note that this isn't really a narrative, only an informative peace detailing the rise of the Imperial forces in power in Darvast and the main trilogy) At around 1892 GST(Galactic Standard Time, the current year measurement instituted by the Intergalactic Union or IU at around 3500 A.D.), the planet of Nafaria, home of the Nafarian people was ruled by a single, unified nation, a Republic that failed to provide security to it's people. Their bloodlust led to the creation of several large ga.ngs* that controlled large swaths of the Nafarian planet, and often times ruled the peoples with brutality and force. The future emperor of the Nafarian people, Romulus Ven'Ziel was only a youngling at this time, a mere twelve years old and grew up through this violent period of time. He was quick to grow distasteful of violence and bloodshed and from a very young age he saw a brighter vision for his people. A peaceful vision, filled with cultural and technological advancement, an era that would oversee his people equipped with the greatest education centers, and above all he wanted to rectify a long lasting peace with the human race. But the republic stood in his way, a government he saw as weak, spineless, and so torn that they couldn't even make the simplest decision to put an end to the violent, marauding ga.ngs that plagued the various backwater towns of Nafaria. He knew the Republic must end, the corrupt politicians that plagued it's congress banished, or better yet killed, and thus, he envisioned himself as ruler of his people. He swiftly swore to himself to preform better than the government of many and to deliver to his people the very paradise he had in his mind. But he knew that bloodshed must come first. Bloodshed to rid his people of the republic. This hatred began to blossom by 1927 GST, as Ven'Ziel began to form a militia, complete with ex republic soldiers and refugees of the raging ga.ng wars that left many without a home. Ven'Ziel quickly began to initiate low level strikes on Republic forts, swearing publicly through hacked com lines to bring an end to inter species violence, and to ascend the Nafarian people to a higher purpose. Few were beguiled to join his cause initially, as Republic propaganda successfully combated his own, branding him a terrorist, a man of violence and death, not one of peace that he claimed to be. Without the fresh recruits, Ven'Ziel's militia was quick to lose the early advances on Republic land it made. Government strike teams acted brutally and efficiently. Eliminating every one of Ven'Ziel's soldiers without question. Thus, began Ven'Ziel's first plunge into dark hypocrisy and unfulfilled goals. He quickly saw that a militia of common people would not be enough to subdue the Republic, despite their weak grasp on the Nafarian continents. Many of the men he controlled had never seen combat in their lives. Ven'Ziel, faced with this dilemma then quickly turned towards several big local ga.ngs, one led by the powerful and renowned Kenzmon Ras'Vael, an ex Republic general. The emperor slyly cajoled them with promises of political and military power beyond imagination, and with the ravenous desire of them all to strike back and tear down the Republic that had failed to deliver for so many years. Each of the ga.ng leaders, convinced by the charismatic Romulus, set aside their differences and pledged themselves to Ven'Ziel's rule, swearing to see him seated as emperor. With the alliance of the ga.ngs, Ven'Ziel's new militia took new ground in a more open war against the Republic, and with time they were soon touted as saviors by the Nafarian people. Romulus Ven'Ziel, a lowly commoner had effectively united several of the more powerful ga.ngs, ending conflicts in many sects of the world and brought them under a single banner, with one purpose; to end the Republic. Millions began to flock under his banner, serving as soldiers, medics, doctors, engineers in an attempt to bring about a new age of peace. The Republic's propaganda did little to stop the flow of new recruits to Ven'Ziel's cause now, and what started years ago as a few upstart ga.ngs seizing military equipment and fighting for control over towns and cities had culminated into a full scale uprising. Their soldiers were overrun, Ven'Ziel's men fighting fanatically for what they believed to be a just cause. As the uprising grew closer to the capitol, and with most of the Republic's ships out of commission and soldiers distraught, the Republic sent an envoy to the IU, pleading in desperation for help against what they described as a totalitarian uprising against their simple, peaceful republic. The IU was swift to send aid, fearing the rise of another powerful empire in the galaxy so soon after the roguetonium wars. Orbital strikes were soon ordered- but human soldiers were not committed to the cause. Despite the IU's assistance however, Ven'Ziel's men still found themselves victorious at the Republic's capitol in 1932 GST, utilizing captured orbital defense grids to bring the IU battle frigates down. Romulus Ven'Ziel was crowned as the emperor soon after, and Kenzmon Ras'Vael was crowned as his second. He believed his fight to be over, his only concerns now being the remnants of the smaller ga.ngs that refused to join his cause during the uprising. Romulus was quick to exterminate them, and by 1946 GST, the last of the major militarized ga.ngs had been all but wiped from the face of Nafaria, and a ten year peace began to settle among his people, a peace where, for a short while his childhood dreams were fully realized. Cities began to rise from the ground, and roguetonium for the first time was used en mass to power them. Trade was opened with the other species of the galaxy, including several neighboring human nations, leading to a economic boom for them. A new imperial army was constructed, complete with state of the art roguetonium weaponry, and a new navy to defend their world. A floating paradise was soon constructed over the old capitol named after the emperor complete with it's own artificial atmosphere and towering skyscrapers. For ten years the nafarians flourished, untarnished by the hatred of war, but this was not to last. In the spring of 1957 GST, a massacre by nafarian terrorist aided by human IU leaders shook the nation. An assault on a peaceful spaceport town that left hundreds slain before imperial troops could arrive and put the act down. The Nafarians swore against Ven'Ziel, branding him a liar, a petty warmonger who wrongfully put down the republic. This event moved the Nafarian people, many cried for Ven'Ziel to step down, others cried for war against the human people, a conspiracy erupted within his own military which was swiftly thwarted by the defense head, and Romulus' close friend, Tartarus Chi'Zar. And with these events Ven'Ziel soon learned the truth behind his people. They were not a people driven by peace, his dreams and aspirations were soon dashed, and from that day he knew that he could not unify his people under a banner of peace, no matter how hard he yearned for it. Romulus was quick to act, seizing the opportunity to unify his people, and in one grand act of charisma he unified his people once again. Once more he announced a call to arms, branding the humans as barbaric animals who would dare to upset the peace that they had fought so hard to achieve. The Nafarian people were moved by his words, and over the next fifteen years Nafarian military advancement flourished under his word. Nafarian battlegroups were bolstered, their fleets now numbering in the hundreds and consisting of battle groups far beyond that of just a defense fleet. Military academies for the young were introduced, beguiling Nafarian parents to enroll their young to buy their families great honor while millions of Nafarians who were of age enlisted, and through the chaos, the I.U., fearful of their Nafarian neighbors simply watched on, allowing the Nafarian war machine to fester in it's own boiling hatred. Through the I.U.'s inaction, a vast, imperial force was soon formed, seas of armored troops lay in wait for Ven'Ziel's word, and by 1972 GST, his order was soon given. The planet of Reavan's Grasp, a planet only a few lightyears away from Nafaria was soon fingered for the massacre of 1957, and what lay forgotten in the mortal minds of men lay immortalized in that of the Nafarians. The Rpublic Reavan's Grasp fell quick to Nafarian steel, with the IU merely watching in horror as their worst fears were realized. Ven'Ziel, disgusted by his own actions merely watched as his men basked in the very violent glory he swore to put an end to. His own inner council even grew corrupt, many basking in the spoils of war, yet remaining loyal to the emperor. The humans under Reavan's Grasp were treated fairly however, and Ven'Ziel made it clear the humans were not to be treated as second class citizens within the empire, claiming that despite their barbaric heritage, they could be re educated to live in a refined Nafarian community. This played two roles for the emperor; By delivering a just, peaceful rule to conquered peoples, he didn't have to worry too much about a human uprising, this also allowed him a false sense of self justication, as he hushed away his failure to deliver peace with the promise of allowing the conquered species a place within his empire. But deep down, Ven'Ziel knew that despite his people's eternal lifespan, he would never live to see his people flourish in that naive, childhood vision. *Damn Roblox filters.
