While it's certainly a plausible assumption that the pathogen itself is unlikely to develop airborne capabilities soon, It would be entirely inaccurate and purely incorrect to make the assumption that the virus itself wouldn't be capable of this. The actual molecular mechanisms involved allow for various components of a cell to adapt to it's environment.

I know this is old but... An airborne strain of Ebola exists, and it wasn't airborne when it first became its own strain. No offense, but I don't think you had a good grasp of how it works, at least not at the time of making this post. RESTV is an airborne strain of EBOV, and its first major airborne outbreak was in the late 1980s-early 1990s. It wasn't always airborne though.
