I feel like I recall posting somewhere on this thread a while ago...
And I don't want to know what I said.

Who can notice the difference between 60hz and 100? There's really no point of increasing the cpu usage etc just for the slight difference. You also have to understand that the servers need to work at this speed as well - which would be quite expensive if you have 6 clients each running at 100 fps.

Most people can. It's night and day for people like me.
Keep in mind that people who do want to go over 60 FPS are people who have good machines, where the increase in CPU usage is next to unnoticeable.

Do you know how servers work right now? As it stands, they run at 30 Hz and ROBLOX still supports 60 FPS.
It wouldn't even be that bad if the servers kept their 30 Hz rate but ROBLOX capped at, for the sake of example, 120 Hz. Any games that make use of a 60 FPS client already use RenderStepped, which works nicely for any frame rate.
Obviously, more would need to be done to let developers play with the new refresh rates and the old ones in the same sandbox. That's up to ROBLOX and RbxDev to discuss and implement. |

it is bad how roblox only locks the fps cap to 60
they could at least make it customizable
there are monitors that are over 60hz, like 120 or 144hz
these both monitors work best when you have 120 / 144+ fps in game in order for them to run smoothly
and i still don't understand how badly my game stutters with a 6700k and 980

Why are people getting confused with the tickrate and fps? |
|
|
60 FPS?
Be grateful! I don't even get 30! |

Tickrate and fps are two seperate things fps improve your visuals and makes gameplay smoother and more satisfying to play, however tickrate is pretty much hit registration so please dont confuse the two. |

Spoiled brats. "waahhh roblox can't run at my supercomputer that i stole my parents card for framerate, i hate this stupid game" |

Why should we, the ones who worked for gaming PCs, get locked at 60 FPS because of people like you? "I can't run it, therefore, no one should" sounds pretty spoiled to me. |

i see no point to limiting 60 fps, support

Even though this sounds nice, I am more in for having ROBLOX utilize higher end GPU's more while it being able to run everything at 60FPS smoothly since ROBLOX tends to be more CPU intensive making it that even though someone might possess a GTX 10XX or RX 4XX, they tend to be more choppy when running that card than it is using the CPU. |

That's true, though the two would go very well together. More physics calculations possible thanks to good GPU utilization would be very useful. |

Maybe you shouldn't have spent a thousand dollars on a COMPUTER! |

Excuse me? You can get 120+ FPS in plenty of games for far less than a thousand dollars - in most cases, <600 USD. |
|
|
Whatever. I don't care about these elitists. "I spent a lot of money on my computer because I have no life, git gud." |
|
|
I would love for roblox to be 144Hz capable. I'm currently building a PC with a 6600k and most likely the GTX 1060.
@megaweegee you wouldn't even need a thousand dollars to run 144fps on roblox. hell, 500 dollar console killers can do that easily. I'm spending 800 dollars on new parts that can run something like GTA5 at 60fps no sweat. |
|
|
I have a GTX 1070 and an i7 6700k now. Where is the 144FPS? |
|
|
Duh, a 500 dollar computer could run 144 on ROBLOX if this was implemented, if you played on a baseplate, and if you had a good monitor. Any real games would run at 40 or something |

This thread oozes ignorance. Having over a billion FPS doesn't help you. 60 FPS is the ideal. Besides, VSync will help you to prevent screen tearing. Roblox is already a very easy thing to run, so having no lock will basically make your fps over 500, which will easily cause screen tears.
60 FPS is fine. I suppose now you're gonna complain to youtube and ask for '150 fps' or some dumbass thing like that.
any higher than 60 is unnoticeable and useless. I'd rather not see screen tears because my computer is giving me over 60 FPS. Only nvidia users would be able to control this.
Make it a toggle and i'll be happier. |

Besides, even if you could see over 60 its not that useful.
You still gotta keep your network receive, render, and physics high. |

"any higher than 60 is unnoticeable and useless. I'd rather not see screen tears because my computer is giving me over 60 FPS"
ugh not really. v-sync is bad, as it actually throttles the refresh rate :L
we just want it to be customizable, which i don't get why you guys don't want. i talked to a roblox staff member before and iirc roblox has their own task scheduler which makes it hard to just "unlock 60 fps+"
