I've been developing a service that other developers would love to use in their games. The service is very complicated and takes a long time to develop, so I want to get a return on my time. Researching ways to do this, the only solution I'm left with is offloading my script logic onto a server and connecting to it using the http service. If Roblox was to provide a way for scripters to get paid for their work other than by making their own game, developing games on Roblox would become easier and increase in quality. There are two ways to do this. There could be paid models as well as free models. These models could be used on the basis that they could only be changed in specific ways (only position and rotation can be changed or only color). The second option is only for scripts. Roblox could allow you to upload your script. A placeholder script could then be added into games. When a authorized game has the placeholder script, the script is replaced with the real script when running on a Roblox server. Benefits and costs to Roblox: increased game quality time to develop system Benefits to game developers: decreased development time increased capabilities Benefits to scripters: actually get paid for work (crazy thought, eh?) Benefits to Users increased quantity of games (due to shorter development times) increased quality of games POST YOUR SUPPORT

Here is a good example. I have a pathfinder that is much better than Roblox's that I have worked a long time on. I will not release it until Roblox implements this feature. It is a navigation mesh pathfinder (very, very fast) that allows AI like zombies not only to jump and successfully navigate places like sfoth, but also allows them to get into cars and chase you. Can you image an AI in Roblox using the elevator or getting in a car to run you over? Robloxians would go crazy!

The models thing has been suggested before, and quickly shot down because it's pointless to try and keep it from being pirated.

So you want to sell models, that could be infected with viruses and also copied? "It's the things that we love the most that kill us" -Hunger Games

No Someone can buy the model and make a model out of the model they bought and release it for free.

What I'm thinking is Roblox implemented security. This means that when it is stored on a computer it is a placeholder or link to the model and any changes the user has made to it. In studio or in a server it would act like a model with restrictions. The owner could lock properties such as the color and the position of parts relative to each other while unlocking other properties like the model position. In general, Roblox would implement the security in a way that users cannot upload it as their own. A trial period can be added. You can have the model for a day total before you have to pay for it to try it out. This way viruses will not make money. Also for viruses, a rating and review system can be implemented. Users that don't like it can rate it poorly, so it shows up less. Scripts that are marked poorly with more than, say, 10 votes can be deleted or marked down into a free model. All of the issues you have presented are relatively small and easily fixed compared to the benefits.

Models on ROBLOX are free, have been free since they came out, and will always be free. No support.

@Zedd and @Highlander Why do you guys like or dislike this idea? The original idea can be modified to fine tune the good parts and cut out the bad. The core concept currently is rewarding the developers that actually did the work. Some developers implement the systems and get all the money while some developers create the systems and currently don't get anything.

The original idea can't be modified. Free models are free models because they will always be free.

^ There will still be free models, but there will also be paid. Why are paid models as opposed to free models wrong? Just because?

Because once there are paid models, there will no longer be free models. The heart of man is desperately greedy. --ThatChristianGuy

Hmm. I see the issue. Unless there was a cost to paid models if your item wasn't successful. For example, it costs 20 Robux a day to keep your model on. This means that if you are selling a model for 200 tickets, you need someone to pay for it daily or your losing money. This would prevent spammers and get paid models down to what it is really about - sharing the spectacular models that deserve to be paid for. The prices can be adjusted, this was just an example. Votes will put your items higher or lower and the lower on the page the harder to pay a day's cost.
