ROBLOX has become greedy. Exactly how? ROBLOX in the old days known as 2009, etc.
ROBLOX in 2009 wasn't so serious about ROBUX and Builders Club!
Back in the old days like I said before, ROBLOX was like "Hey want to upgrade your account and get more places? But BC!" Not as it is today, "Buy BC or GTFO". I'm not being a noob.
ROBLOX was really greedy. Today, ROBLOX is STILL greedy! I went to buy a ROBLOX card today, and when I redeemed it, a message saying "You bought 800 ROBUX! Make sure to get ROBUX!" Make sure? Make SURE?! MASKE SURE?!!! I will never spend not even a nickel on ROBLOX. I quit ROBLOX, this was my last fourm/thread. |

You joined 9 days ago. Besides, it's not 'greed'. They need money for the servers (Which cost more than you'd think), the staff, the website upkeep etc. In 09', there were less players, so less need for lots of staff and servers, but now, they are 44 million play sessions of upwards an hour MONTHLY.
I don't like OT, but I don't mean to denigrate those who do. And for the people that do use OT, denigrate means 'put down'. |

Old account was 08', and it was terrible. The games sucked, but there were no nubs, 'cause we were all nubcaiks, that's why people want to go back then. In reality, in 09' the games and aesthetics were terrible/

Are you kidding? 2009 was like, the roblox recession.
Like it or not, we are playing a game that they made, and they need to be paid for it. They have to keep up with all of these bills, maintenance, servers, employees, etc. If no one bought BC or robux, there wouldn't be enough to keep the servers up and running, so that's why they push it on us so much.
Also, I redeemed a few cards today, and I did not see the "Make sure to get ROBUX!" until I returned to the original page that I clicked on. |

It's not like a depression where the economy goes into a freefall, I mean, it's kind of like that, but not completely. A recession is a small crash in economics where the value of things, the production of things, etc. goes down. 2009 on roblox was like a recession because everything was cheap, games were terrible and barely produced, (the same 10 games were on the same page every day because no one was developing). |

@OP: You just joined a year ago and note that you're generation is a bunch of misfits and spoiled brats who can't live without computers and x boxes.
@Others: The best year was 2007-2008: Everyone can send FR's without getting exploit and hacked, Where everyone can go to other people's places without restriction or BC only. And were Hats are good and don't go up to 100K robux. Lowest is 10k only. |

DominusPrimus has probably said the most sensible thing I have ever seen anyone say about this subject.
ROBLOX says it is free to play, and it is. BC gives people perks for money, like buying any membership. The money goes towards keeping ROBLOX up. The admins don't work for free. They are human too, not mindless robots, and they have families the same as we do. By complaining about their greed, YOU yourself are showing your OWN greed. Like Dominus said, servers do cost a lot. There is a large player base on ROBLOX, and they need to fund it all. In '06, '07, '08, and so on, there was not as many players. And BC isn't even unfair. It's an honest way to make money for ROBLOX. Of course, ROBLOX has to make it worth it. Otherwise, there would be no point and no one would buy.
You complain about how they say "Make sure to buy ROBUX!", but that is a marketing ploy. Robux is the in-game currency, and you can buy it or get it through BC. Simple as that. Keep in mind that people enjoy ROBLOX and they make money off of BC and BLOXcon and other commercial things, like any company. Complaining about how ROBLOX sells BC is like complaining about how Toshiba makes you pay money to get a computer. BC is like any other item on the market. You pay money, and you get something in return. The more you pay, the more you get.
P.S: I have never bought BC, and I never will. I am sick of people complaining about it, and I think people should just calm down. BC will not be going away. |

Server cost is $1 per person it can hold, if the server is in use the entire month. So one server that can hold 10 players with just ONE player in it, costs $10 a month, 1.6 monthly BC buys. 50 player servers doe...

Where are you getting these numbers?
If you are taking these numbers from minecraft server hosts, you are completely wrong.
Minecraft servers usually rent servers at that rate.
The difference for ROBLOX is that they build their servers, they don't rent them. This means they are much more expensive (but much more reliable).
This means that servers become much more expensive.
Around $50 per 10 players if you want them to all get a higher quality (higher data load) game via multiplayer, this is key because unlike multiplayer in minecraft, all you get is the world download and the connection.
Roblox? You have to download the game, all of which are on ROBLOX's servers, not your computer.

Where the heck did you get that info? Its complete ****, I used to work for a hosting company and I know for a fact that its not 1$ a player for ANY GAME. Its not measured by how many players, its measured by when the server collapses. You could have 20,000 AFK players in a server and it only costs 20 bucks to run that server, but if you have 20,000 players doing things like building then it becomes about $2000 But theres no way in heck a server would ever cost 1$ per person. The OP is right, Roblox is slightly greedy, all the admins and devs that are getting paid are currently rich. From all the money they'd earn from the BC members and people buying Robux I'd say they'd be putting about 10% of their earning back into servers. You dont need money to run servers, not much anyway, you just need money to set them up. Sometimes they'd need money for a server upgrade, that might cost 10k but to RUN the servers they just have to pay for electricity, devs, admins and internet. |
