(Before reading: If you're here to troll, to rage about my grammar or my spelling, to act like a 4 years old kid or you're too lazy to read: Just get out, I don't deal with immature kids.)
Hello guys,
some people like me has to do "ALT+/(é on my keyboard)" or "Shift+3" to chat since an old chat update (not the recent one, another before. I think it was in 2013).
I begin to find it annoying: When I press shift, it enables mouselock(I use it in swordfights) and when I press alt, it selects the 3rd item or say "3" when I'm writing. Looks like my keyboard is acting different when I'm on Roblox (In other games, everything is normal). Other strange thing: I can't write "^", it writes "[" instead (Normally, I have to press ALT+^ to write [)
But whatever, that's not important for me and most people doesn't seem to have problems with talking. But me, I always have to move the 3rd item somewhere else or I always select this item when I try to talk.
So, my suggestion is to change the key for "Enter" instead so people who have the same problem as me can chat correctly. It's really ruining the fun to always have to remove the 3rd item and some games (ex: The quarry) have custom inventory and you can't do anything so you always select an item.

Btw when I'm talking about "custom inventory" it's inventories where you can't move your items (gears on 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0 cannot be moved). |

I agree! "Enter" would be better because every keyboard has it same place. On keyboard I typically use, slash ( / ) is Shift + 7. It is annoying. Some keyboards might not even have it. |

I'd add that most online games I've played have "Enter" to chat by default. |

Anyway, as for this, many people are used to / to chat. Changing it might upset people (who for some reason are too attached to a key binding). I would be fine with enter as the chat key, but what about something better? What if they let us custom key bind the chat button? That would be great. The only drawback is that some games may use your chat key as a control, but it's easy to change the binding.
As for you for now, I suggest disabling mouse-lock in your menu. Then you can shift-3 without problems.

I partially agree.
Make it so you can change what button you want to use, it would not only stop this problem, but also make it more convenient for everyone.

I have the same problem as that other guy, that for me it is shift plus 7. This is because I live in germany where we have different keyboards.

I think there should be an an option for the keybinding in the in-game menu for chat instead of this. The community seems to whine a lot on non-optional changes.
By the way, OP, you can click the chat bar in most games (the exception being 1st person games) to chat as an alternative to /. |
